Western KY predicted to finish 1st place. We've all seen this before.

Three man weave does a great job as always and they have a heavy focus on mid majors. I won a bunch of money trailing their CBB picks on twitter last year. This really is the do or die year for Stanz. We return essentially our entire roster, add back Bassey who missed the entire conference slate, add a second team all-OVC senior PG, add a top 10 juco and another KY Mr. Basketball. I know one team nobody will have to worry about winning any preseason trophies for a while and that's the Blue Raiders. Hopefully you guys qualify for the conference tournament this year.

RE: Nice Thorough CUSA Basketball Preview/Ranking
I'd say pretty accurate on USM with the only change being Tyler Morman (transfer from Wyoming) has been cleared and is eligible....but considering he averaged 1 pt and 2.5 rebounds a game at Wyoming i don't think we're expecting too much from him besides an inside presence/body so the starter(s) can take a breather once or so per half.

And I admittedly can't remember if USM is back to full scholarship status from the probation period but based off the roster I'd say we are as there's 17 players on the roster (per athletic website) with at least 3 of those I feel like being walk-ons but considering NCAA limits say 13 scholarships there's 1 more walk on than i've accounted for.

I'm not the biggest Stansbury fan,,,winning will cure that. But last year after Bassey went down I thought Stansbury did his best job "coaching". Maybe the best in his career. I also thought that Western team had a great chance at taking the championship in the conference tourney.

If Stansbury cannot win with a loaded...1 to 5 starting roster and a loaded 6-9 bench. Its going to get ugly for him with the Western fans. This team on paper are up there with some of the Memphis teams that ran roughshod over CUSA . Or the Middle team that owned CUSA from start to finish. Sr based talent...

can they be a "team" will be the key for Stansbury to get over the hump at Western

It's generally a pretty good breakdown for Charlotte; though I will say that I think it undersells some guys like Williams a bit. I also don't agree with the assessment that the talent is near the bottom of the league, considering we've had the top-ranked recruiting class in the conference each of the last two years.

The only thing is I think Obinna Anochili-Killen will start over Iran Bennett, maybe not right away but def sometime during the season. I had high hopes for Bennett but for some reason he can't get his weight under control. This summer he was back up to 320 again. If Bennett had the will to get down to just 280 I don't think anyone could have stopped him in CUSA. At the right weight he is one of the closest things to a Baby Shaq. Think Glen "Big Baby" Davis if Bennett was 280.

Obinna Anochili-Killen is 6'8 200# and was a human hilghight real in HS. He has a 7'3 wingspan and a 38 inch vertical.

Bennett will be lucky to get 5 minutes a half. He is way overweight and being passed my Beyers, Milo and O’Binna

Some really good research here, but if we are the 7th best team in this conference, we will have more than one bid for sure. and I will be pissed at ron sanchez.

The UTEP xfers that were waiting for waivers have received them so according to the article, UTEP is a contender. If on the other hand UTEP ends up 9th as predicted then the fire coach Rodney train will be in full locomotion.

Bassey is a spectacular athlete. But I actually worry more about Hollingsworth and Anderson. Those guys can beat you so many ways.

The player I consider to be the most dangerous in the conference: Taevion Kinsey. He is special to watch. I'm very glad we get Marshall at home this year. These are the two games that I most hope to be able to attend in person.

Yep. WKU is super loaded but Kinsey, if not the most dangerous is one of the most fun to watch. He's a crazy athlete and his love of playing is contagious.

Quick question is Dajour Rucker sitting out this season? I did not see him on the 2020-2021 roster posted on Herdzone.

I don't think Rucker is on the roster anymore. From what Ive heard from those who talk to Dan is Rucker had the size but not the speed and he was slow picking up the play and pace. If Rucker can actually play Im sure Dan will help him find a landing spot. One of 2 things will happen Marshall will play with an open scholarship this year or that scholarship will go to Soph. Devin Collins.

I can’t wait for basketball season. I don’t even have any real expectations for this year other than I think we will be surprisingly competitive. I’m just excited to have Andy Kennedy back home.

RE: Nice Thorough CUSA Basketball Preview/Ranking
I like to think I'm fairly objective.

Of course, I want Marshall to win, however, I can appreciate, understand and respect the other CUSA bball programs are also improving.

WKU will be the big dog. But there's a group of about 7 or 8 programs that could fight for that second spot

It will be near impossible to pick up an at large bid this year. However, I think we'll have a good league.
