The PAC 12 is a wildcard. If they don’t produce an undefeated championship think Cincinnati has a great playoff shot but a 1-loss SEC team will be right up there in the conversation too.

I love our team, but this is my worry. The playoff is now pretty much Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama and whoever else happens to get in. If we happen to be the 4th team, we're not measuring ourselves against Power 5 conferences, we're measuring ourselves against the schools that are dominating those conferences. Hell, Ohio State is 23-1 against Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin in the last 24 games against those teams. If we get blown out by the Buckeyes, the story is that a G5 team can't compete against P5 conferences, and that narrative will disregard the fact that Ohio State similarly dominates every team in their conference.
You have a legit. point, but there is another legitimate way to look at it.
If there is no non-P5 team in the playoff, that will simply confirm the notion that only the P5 teams belong in the playoffs.
The very existence of a non-P5 team in the playoffs - - all by itself - - contradicts the notion that only P5 teams can make the playoffs.
Getting "blown out" by a score of 90-0 would be bad, of course, but if the Bearcats were to lose by 20 or 30 points, nobody would remember the score. All they would remember is that Cincy was in the playoffs in 2020.
That's fair.

Winning the PR narrative about Cincy’s worthiness is nearly as important as convincing victories. Tweets like the above help the cause.
But therein lies the rub. The selection committee is stacked with P5 reps. The CFP claim that every conference has equal opportunity is a lie.
Quite frankly, this would be the PERFECT year for the "selection committee" to "throw us a bone" to keep the "G-5" in check and stop bitchingg about structural conference-ism. What I mean is, if you look at the letter of the law (rules), we ARE eligible for the playoffs. They could say "see???? You are not locked out. Now shut up and sit down."

Yep but I’d still be surprised.

This will be the narrative. I still hear about how UC got blown out by Florida in the Sugar Bowl and they didn't belong. I always ask if Ohio State belonged the a few years before because Florida blew them out by the same margin.
It will be nice to crack the cartel, but I think it will be used to by the talking heads to show why the G5 shouldn't be there. The talking heads like 15-20 power schools and one flavor of the year. This year is UC, other years it was Boise, UCF etc.
