27 games max, per NCAA edict. We're playing 20 AAC games. Home and Home vs. everybody.
3 games in the Crossover Classic in South Dakota (a substitute for the Battle 4 Atlantis), starting Nov. 25 in a bubble of sorts. First game there is Ohio State, followed by either West Virginia or Texas A&M, then a third game against a team in the other bracket (Creighton, Utah, Dayton, Wichita State).
The other 4 OOC games are TBD. At least 2 will be in FedExForum. One will likely be at a neutral site vs. Auburn. UTk game in Nashville is canceled. The 4th game is still up in the air.
Home dates are still undecided due to waiting on the Grizzlies to finalize their schedule.

I read somewhere that at Ole Miss is still likely. They're looking at Arky State, Murray State, Little Rock and Central Arkansas as the two remaining home games. If it's Murray State and Little Rock ... it's easily our toughest schedule ever. No cupcakes for you young man !!

I vote for zero cupcakes every year. This will likely be our toughest schedule ever.
We get cupcakes in normal years for two reasons, at least:
1. Our regular contract with FedExForum requires 18 home games. With a typical 18 game AAC schedule, that is 9 home games, and leaves us needing 9 more home games out of the remaining 13. That limits our opportunities to get many big games, and is further constrained by potential tough opponents who often prefer neutral site games to playing at FEF.
2. Many of the 3 game OOC tourney contracts, necessary to allow us to play 31 games, come with 2 at home cupcakes attached.
Neither of those things do I prefer, they're just reality.

Agreed. We need to play good teams.

Of the 4 remaining OOC games, Auburn evidently is still a 'go' in Atlanta due to contracts and television. At least 2 of the remaining 3 will be buy games at home. They were trying to do a Murray State game as a "Ja Day" day-night double header with the Grizz. But since that won't happen with the NBA, the Murray St game is probably off. I'm guessing more likely UT-Martin and Arky State types. That would leave 1 game for a road game possibility if something good comes up. Maybe the Old Miss game, but I'm betting that is postponed. But it is still very much up in the air.

RE: Basketball schedule?
I seem to have heard somewhere that the games played in events (like we are playing in South Dakota) will only count as ONE game against our total allotted games. If true, that would allow us to schedule several more games.
Anybody else heard that?
It's also possible the above info is wrong, since I heard it on the local sports AM station.

The max games allowed this year is 27 and that is if you are playing in one of the events. If you're not playing in an event, your max is 25 games.
So we will have 20 AAC games, 3 event games, 4 OOC games.

RE: Basketball schedule?
Well, the Shelby County Health Department had a meeting yesterday with the mayors and mentioned that they're thinking about cancelling attendance at all indoor events...

Quote:Health Department officials told the mayors they wanted to mandate the closure of gyms, make restaurants limit dine-in seating and not allow spectators at indoor sporting activities. They also want to limit the number of people that are allowed at indoor spaces.
Word by Monday on the next steps.

625 deaths in Shelby Co
935,000 residents in Shelby Co
0.00066845
Sure, shut everything down again. We now have skyrocketed all the way to a fraction of 1% mortality rate and they have yet to put a patient in the pop up hospital at the old CA building. Wonder if the SCSD will show up at my house on Thanksgiving because we have 20-25 folks there

Or 626 deaths out of 44,474 cases = 1.4%. So if everyone in Shelby county were to get it that would be over 13,000 deaths.

so 98.6% recover. Meanwhile, businesses are going under, people are losing their livelihood, homes, etc over unnecessary restrictions.

I wouldn't say unnecessary restrictions. It's uncharted territory for everyone. If they shutdown local businesses during the Christmas season it will probably get ugly though.
