The AAC's top teams can compete with most of college football. Give it another year. UH will be better with next year.

Has anyone warned Holgs he needs to win out or be fired?

Can they even afford to fire him? It was a 5 year, $20m contract, so presumably if they fired him at the end of this season, they'd owe $12m. Unless Tillman Fertitta is writing that check, I doubt UH has that kind of cash.

I was mildly skeptical when he was hired, but I figured being back in Texas would put him in a good spot to succeed. But he's trending toward Charlie Strong/Tommy Tuberville checking out in G5 retirement territory.

well during the game uH ran a commercial that said their athletics program was in the hole $7.5 million this year

and tilly has probably personally made some cash on the CZR/Eldorado deal and the cash he pulled out of Landry's just before covid hit, but he is most likely hanging on to all of that and more (besides the $50 million he already dumped back in because of covid) in case he needs to buy back a major chunk of his company if it goes BK and he has to give a chunk to the lenders and debt holders......the larger a share he can get back the sooner he can screw share holders like he did when he took Landry's private back in the day...the less equity he is able to buy back in the company (IF) it goes BK the less chance he has to do that or the longer it will take for him to do that

Holgs=Dave Wannstedt

He's good for 7-9 wins on a season, but cannot get the "big win."
