RE: CUSA Postponement Tracker
The CUSA COVID protocol is excessive compared to other conferences. Time to revisit the policy. Allow players to test out of a false positive, reevaluate the contact tracing policy, and determine what are the health impacts to those who already tested positive.

The season is at the halfway point and no one in the Dallas suburbs is interested in "fixing" anything now.

(11-07-2020 07:25 AM)Saint3333 Wrote:  That’s now 20 games postponed or canceled for CUSA this year. 3x SBC.

Maybe CUSA should be called the "COVID Conference"?

CUSA seems to be more negatively impacted by COVID than any other conference this season. Of the 47 FBS football games cancelled or postponed in 2020 due to COVID concerns (see link below), CUSA teams were involved in 19 of them by my count. That's over 40% of the total FBS game cancellations and postponements. AAC teams have been involved in 12 or 25.5% of the cancellations/postponements in 2020, and the Sunbelt --by my count-- was involved in only 8, or 17%.

These stats seem to support my lightly "controversial" theory that some CUSA teams are guilty of using COVID as a "scheduling strategy" in 2020, and not necessarily always cancelling or postponing games each week for health reasons.

Oh....and these stats don't even include the 12 games that ODU cancelled right out of the gate when the Monarchs declared their entire football season over before it started. These stats also do NOT include Rice's 3 early season cancellations against Army, LSU & Lamar off of Rice's original 2020 schedule.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...e-to-covid-19/

It's puzzling that CUSA is still cancelling and postponing games almost every week (including several this past week), while other conferences seem to have settled a bit. Meanwhile, there were some pretty large crowds at some of the games I watched yesterday (KSU?). And yes, at the end of the Notre Dame game, at least 20K students & fans rushed the field like old times, and were all over each other.

We have received confirmation that the Rice @ LA Tech game is postponed.

Postponed to when? Rice already has makeup games on Dec 5 and 12. Is the C-USA CCG still scheduled for Dec 19?

RE: CUSA Postponement Tracker
C-USA games scheduled through December 12 (played through November 14th)

East
FIU - 6 (2)
Charlotte - 6* (3)
Marshall - 7 (4)
FAU - 7 (5)
WKU - 7 (5)
MTSU - 7* (6)
AVERAGE = 6.67 (4.50)

Average 6.67 should be rounded down to 6 to set the minimum games required for East teams to 5 if all remaining games are played as scheduled.

*Charlotte at Middle Tennessee game could be rescheduled for December 12 if necessary.

West
UAB - 5 (3)
Rice - 6 (2)
UTEP - 6 (3)
UNT - 7 (3)
Tech - 7 (5)
UTSA - 7 (5)
Southern Miss - 8 (4)
AVERAGE = 6.57 (4.17)

Average 6.57 should be rounded down to 6 to set the minimum games required for West teams to 5 if all remaining games are played as scheduled.

C-USA may also be using the same provision as the SEC which adds back one game maximum to the total for eligibility for games unable to be played if the other team caused the cancellation. The SEC definitely uses the average rounded down provision as shown above.

If UAB is disqualified, due to lack of games, UTSA is poised to be declared west division champion.

The numbers I originally posted are live and in real time. The averages shoudn't be corrected until the actual re-scheduling of games occurs. This way, it allows for us to see what is the current landscape.

The conference already stated that teams below the one game average are ineligible. My original post showed that if things stayed the same as they are, those teams in bold would be in trouble.

My post uses the schedule posted on the C-USA website as of Saturday night which included all games already officially rescheduled. I do not include Charlotte-Middle Tennessee or Rice-Louisiana Tech which had not been rescheduled at that time and likely won't be without other schedule adjustments.
