What is this? USM allowing people in the stands? Looks like typical Rice crowd.

And now even the short kick works!! What is happening? I'm gonna regret this in like an hour, but what if the first game maybe was just shaking off rust?

Owls recover fumble on the kickoff. Bad coverage on 1st play resulting in another Owls TD.

But missed XP, still no doinks!

I do like the call to go for the TD on the 1st play. Don't let up Owls!

Did they have Chad Nelson in this week to teach the pooch kick? Back to the magical Nelson kickoffs vs Tech and UT in successive games in 1994.

Seemed like he was lined up pretty much straight behind holder like he was going to try an old style toe ball FG. Not surprised it went to left.

USM 45 yd FG. Looked like the kicker didn't even try to hit the crossbar or an upright. WTH? Is that allowed?

Many loud groans from the home crowd on their team's conservative play calls (when they're unproductive). Know the feeling.

That was a horrible read by Collins on third down. And I'm being generous on calling it a read, as he threw exactly where he was staring. While a wheel route on the boundary on the same side broke open for a chance for a big play.

Maybe he is just not very good.

6 & out for the Owls ... including a nice catch & nifty run by Trammell for a first down.

Punt downed at the USM 7.

16-3, Rice ... 4:42 left in 1H

What a hit! Really difficult for a defender to thread the needle between that kind of hit and targeting, especially with a QB who's already being dragged downl.

What’s with all these points off turnovers? That’s not the Rice way.

Fabulous!

Worried about a pick on such a shallow/wide pass ... but Trammell made Collins look good on that play.

Maybe they should bring Hambone in to teach the right down the middle kick on FGs and XPs.

RE: Rice vs USM
Bad (or disappointing) coaching here. Should have used our TOs once S. Miss got into 1st and 15. Could have had another possession before the half. And then call one at 0:35 seconds left when we could've had 1:00+ left.
