So two games played on weekdays just for ESPN3 and ESPN+ coverage. Hopefully this is only acceptable for this season because of no fans in the stands.

Yeah it would've been better to have them play earlier in the day instead of having them on the streaming service.

They should just go ahead and play on November 3. Everyone from UB traveling to NIU will have to vote early or absentee. Not playing on Election Day doesn't accomplish anything.

It's quite the way to kick off MACtion. It will give me something to flip through as I cookout for the yearly battle of I-75. CMU vs. Ohio is the deserving game of the week.

Well, people are going to be watching the tube at night, though. We don't want people watching the news to get in the way of our MAC-Ratings!
Of course, having all games on 1 day in the same time-frame is silly.
I would have preferred and 2:00PM, 5:30PM, and 9:00PM games, 2 games each, to spread out the MACtion.

Hope we get a much better TV situation as soon as this ESPN weekday-b*tch thing wraps up.

The best we can hope for is that our weekday games are more frequently upgraded to better channels (ESPN and 2 are way better than ESPNU and 3) and rivalry games are scheduled in October to prevent attendance from being depressed on a weeknight (IIRC the original schedule this season did a good job of this). Frankly it's either that or nothing, no one is clamoring for CBS MAC football on November Saturdays.

Boise state and the MWC draws very well on Thursday and Friday nights on CBSSN. It's usually October and they're pinned against an SBC or ACC game. Sometimes no competition if it's a 9 or 10ET kick. But for that reason I don't blame those actual tv networks for bad MAC ratings. It's our fault we aren't a draw.
The espn+ and espn3 has to go TOTALLY for week night games. I'll take ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and CBSSN. Even ESPNNews is a channel most Americans have and other weird events occasionally push MAC football there.
But in the future the MAC schools should understand you'll be playing on Saturdays more if you suck and other football is on. It's not viable for 1-8 Akron to host 4-5 Ball State on a Wednesday night and make TV. As you saw with the real schedule released in the summer. Akron was not playing the weeknight games NIU or Toledo or Ohio were.
I'd be okay with 2 MACtion games per week in November. All flexed for the best games to show off the conference best.

With the NYS travel restrictions including every MAC state it will be interesting to see how UB travels to these schools and how these schools travel into NY.
I can see Buffalo just flying out day of the game in the morning, playing the game, and flying back home. Its not ideal, but it makes a lot of logistics easier.

The fans realize that. Not sure about the ADs and the schools.

Quote:21. I’m not going to lie: I did not see much #MACtion upon its return Wednesday. My TV was tuned to something else that night. And the next night. And the next one.
I promise to tune in Tuesday night. Miami of Ohio at Buffalo is a good one. And it should only take a few hours to find out the winner.
