I don’t know if the screaming lady is play-acting or if that’s just who she really is. But either way I definitely know lots and lots of people who really are “that consumed by politics.” Oh, yes.

As to the “why”, you got me there. Best guess I have is that some people are only happy when they’re angry.

Slightly longer version: there’s millions of people out there who simply cannot deal with life as it is. Politics is a convenient way for them to avoid facing up to that basic reality. It gives them something to blame when things go wrong, and something to “hope” in, that something will come along and make things better, if only the Bad People would let them have their way.

And I know people who were as depressed.

For some, many(?), it has taken that spot in their lives many used to fill with something called religion, Church, God, family, congregation. Now politics, power and government have been elevated to a place it never should be.

If there is a void somewhere, something else will inevitably fill that space.

I suspect that this is who she really is. I've noticed that the farther left a person's politics are, the less happy they seem to be. When you internalize all that misinformation about how horrible our country is and all of the horrible things 'we' have done and how we were founded on slavery (1619 Project) and are as a country plagued with systemic racism, it is bound to have an effect on emotions.

The truth is that the left is more driven by emotional responses than the center or the right. It is why James Carville once said that the left is much easier to manipulate. Low info voters. To now believe that everything that used to be taught about our country is wrong pushes these people to scream at the sky and believe that the other side cheated to win in 2016 - they had to because everybody believes the same things as I believe (in my liberal bubble).

The right believes that the left are people with bad ideas.
