Games Postponed or Canceled, October 22-24
Please post info on any games currently scheduled for October 22-24 that are announced as postponed or canceled this week for any reason.

To be clear, we want to track postponements of these games where the announcement itself is made from October 18 onwards, not before then.

probably already known because it was announced last week, but the SEC did a little switcheroo, moving Mizzou-Florida and UGA-Kentucky back a week to 10/31 and moving Kentucky-Mizzou up a week to 10/24. Doubtful UF would have been able to play this Saturday anyway.

GAME ADDITION: UMass at Marshall on Saturday, 11/7. Supposedly the guarantee UMass got from Georgia Southern only covered about half what it cost to go down there and get their doors blown off. Marshall might hang 80 on UMass, I hope they pay better at least.

New Mexico at Colorado State is cancelled - COVID restrictions in UNM's home county. No room for makeups in the MWC schedule.

Is this the first conference game that has been flat-out canceled?

This is likely a harbinger of things to come, particularly with the B1G, MAC, PAC, and MW, the four conferences that are just about to start and thus have little if no wiggle room in their schedules.

Yes it is. CUSA has 5 league games hanging in the ether that they'll get around to rescheduling, you know, one of these days, stop nagging us bro.

Any B1G/MAC/PAC12/MWC game that isn't played that stated week is just gone. There is no makeup room at all.

New Mexico is not going to play a single game. That's my prediction.

Their Governor is completely nuts as regards her rules and regulations.

Are they working? Of course not! New Mexico currently has the highest R rate out of all 50 states!

Of course, New Mexico's crazy Governor will continue to plow forward. She can't conceive of the idea that she is wrong.

That’s your opinion - from afar.
As someone who lives in the state now and sees firsthand what is going on - I think the governor has done an admirable job. I won’t go into a bunch of details, but I’ll summarize by saying NM has tons of challenges (Poverty, low education, high rural population, corruption, relatively little water, etc) just to make it through everyday life - and Covid only makes it worse. The early lockdowns kept rates here very low. Things exploded after Labor Day.

The fact that the state is sandwiched between two previously very high infection rate states - Arizona and Texas (and is a vacation spot for many, many Texans) has not helped. The highest infection rates are in the Las Cruces area and in SE New Mexico, both of which have significant daily interaction with Texas (and El Paso’s rate is even higher than NM right now). Not that it’s Texas’ fault - but it hasn’t helped.

I agree with your prediction that UNM will not play a game. Too many difficulties to overcome in a short period.

NMSU is one of the few schools that cancelled its season and has not tried to restart. As an independent, NMSU lost all but 4 games on it schedule by late August - including $2.5 million in buy games. The testing requirements plus ongoing uncertainties were just too much for a poorly funded program to absorb.
