Lollol. Man what is your obsession with the other "g5" teams? Maybe you haven't noticed, but most of us don't give a darn about those teams outside of making sure that our champion stays higher ranked than them to insure that we continue to get the NY6 bowl. Maybe I'm missing something and I'm misunderstanding your fascination with them. So I'm honestly asking if you'll explain to me why any fan of the AAC would actively root for or promote any g4 success. 07-coffee307-coffee3

Some people around here are interested in keeping track of the other non-P5 teams.

However, since it ticked you off, I'll change them to small print.

The American has established itself as as the best G5 or IMO more of a tweener.

I prefer parity in college sports so I like other G5 teams doing well unless it hurts our conference in someway.

AP is out and has Memphis and Tulsa receiving votes, but no UCF. Sunbelt looks like the conference with the best chance to compete vs the AAC for NY6.

The way Cincy was treated in the polls this weeks shows that there will be no opportunity for an AAC school to get a cfp bid this year unless the rules change.

Oklahoma St is like 6th or something for the big 12. I have no idea why the PAC has six even RV. Beyond Oregon and possibly Utah everyone over there is shakey. It's quite possible that the AAC will finish Massey higher rates than both conferences this year. ND probably puts the ACC out of reach.

The fact that the extra eligibility rules will hell mid tier programs more than the top NFL factories means it's likely that the AAC has a shot at finishing in front of an A5 conference three years in a row. Need Cincy and SMU to hold up through a topsy turvy year but it seems perception could be moved given performance to back up marketing.

...It's quite possible that the AAC will finish Massey higher rates than both (Big XII and PAC-12) conferences this year...

It would be stunning if the AAC were to finish ahead of the Big XII in any respect (# of top 25 teams, # of top 50 teams, composite rankings, etc.), or even for the middle and upper tier of AAC teams to achieve near-parity with the middle and upper tiers of the Big XII.

Aye, and it would be the 4th year in a row for the AAC to parity with the PAC-12 with respect to the average number of top 25 teams.

.

By these criteria, it would be an understatement to suggest that the AAC is just a "tweener" FB conference, competitively.

It would be truer to suggest that the AAC has been a middle-tier FBS conference since 2017:

Upper Tier (2017-2019): SEC, Big 10, Big 12

Middle Tier (2017-2019): ACC, PAC-12, AAC, MWC (?)

Lower Tier (2017-2019): CUSA, Sun Belt, MAC

In 2020, the data are limited, but it may be more like this:

Upper Tier (2020): SEC, Big 10, ACC

Middle Tier (2020): Big 12, PAC-12, AAC

Lower Tier (2020): CUSA, Sun Belt, MAC, MWC
