UT game in Nashville
Rick Barnes all but said all neutral sites won’t be played. When asked about Memphis he said it didn’t make sense to play it.

I know it had been a topic of conversation in the past but Rick just flushed.

RE: UT game in Nashville
Barnes is an old-man punk. Hides behind a good, ole boy image - but we've seen his true colors.
He can't handle it and has been looking for a way out since day 1.
He also said he was trying to schedule a game with Gonzaga. Basically a replacement.
So it doesn't make sense to play an in-state game where teams and fans can drive, but it does make sense to schedule something across the country.
He's a punk.

I'm going to side with Barnes on this one. If fans can't go to Nashville to see this game due to COVID restrictions, then moving the game to next season make sense.
No reason to play a heated rivalry game in front of broadcasters & the Bridgestone Arena custodial staff.

Barnes has some good recruits coming in this year. Give them a year to grow, so Tennessee has a chance to keep next season's game within 20 pts.

Yeah, but you know what will happen, right? They'll beg off and it ends up not getting played at all. That's how they roll.... 05-mafia

lol
First, he won't say when it will be rescheduled. Which means, he's out - no reschedule.
Second, who says fans won't be allowed? And if fans are not, you could use this same logic for every game.
Third, the replacement he is talking about is Gonzaga. Does a cross-country game and the risk involved with that, make more sense than a regional game to which teams can drive?
Other than that, good to know you're siding with Barnes.

I would think that Bridgestone Arena (and the Predators or whomever makes money off the game) would bind us to the contract that was signed with them to hold the neutral site game.

As protective as the Grizzlies are over FedEx Forum, I would assume Bridgestone is the same way.

You'd also think that when schools sign contracts to play each other, they would be bound. But there are always loopholes and buyouts.

There's probably some legal language with an out for a plague or something like that.

Plague of Locusts; pestilence etc.
