One Reporter’s Misplaced Blame
Quote:Why is ACC Network — which will carry the next two UM games — still unavailable in more than 80 percent of South Florida homes, a full 14 months after its launch?

I blame the ACC and ESPN (which owns the network) more than I blame the providers that refuse to carry it, including Comcast and Atlantic Broadband locally.

Here’s why: A Comcast official once told me that Comcast is willing to carry the network on a tier for people who are willing to pay extra for it. ESPN refuses to acquiesce to that, demanding that the network be made available to every subscriber.

Just so everyone understands, doing what Comcast wants would result in cutting probably 90% of the revenue to the ACC... they essentially want it for 90% off the regular price.

At this point, I don't foresee Comcast adding the ACCN to Xfinity prior to a new contract agreement with Disney involving the full suite of Disney owned networks. If I remember correctly, they last signed a 10-year agreement in early 2012. So, there is probably going to be at least one more football season after this one where Xfinity customers are without the ACCN.

Unless ESPN splits off from Disney.

Mickey and Minnie are more likely to split up, I think.

Hulu + Live, Fubo TV and Vidgo all have ACCN and all have free trials. Try those for a short term solution. Long term, if you're an ACC fan, ditch Comcast cable service for a streaming service with ACCN, TBS and TNT for the NCAAT, and the local RSN that carries a package ACC games.
