I guess start with the Ivy League cancelling the entire season. Bethune-Cookman and Maryland-Eastern Shore have cancelled their seasons.


I count nineteen games on Wednesday that have been cancelled due to Covid. So far.

Partial list:

Arizona St. - Baylor. Baylor coach Scott Drew has the bug.

Duke - Gardner-Webb (must see TV, that). Duke home opener is now Coppin St. on Saturday, another barn burner.

Tennessee has suspended all team activities. Coach Rick Barnes has the bug.

UConn WBB has suspended all team activities due to a player positive.

Oregon - E. Washington, a couple of positives on EW.

Utah, multiple players positive, plus coach Larry Krystowiak has tested positive.

Georgia - Gardner Webb, multiple positive on GW.

Virginia - Florida, multiple positives at UF.

Buffalo has cancelled both men's and women's games versus Gannon U, multiple positives at Gannon.

Ole Miss has cancelled it's first four games, a three game Classic at home 11/25-7 and Memphis 12/5 due to multiple positives and contact tracing.

One other thing re Covid and MBB. The biggest problem/risk for basketball going forward isn’t the players or coaches testing positive. It will be the officials. Lots of travel and almost all have other jobs that put them in contact with other people. College basketball officiating is, essentially, a well paying hobby that isn’t especially large by design. So once they start getting sick or going into quarantine, the pool will dwindle and, eventually, you won’t have enough to go around.

It will be interesting to see how out of control this becomes.

Fox 6 reporting we will have one player sitting out tomorrow due to contact tracing.

It wound up at 32 games cancelled.

This season was likely over before it started for all intents and purposes, but I look forward to watching our team while I can. I hope we can keep most of the team together for another run next year.

I see us playing an entire season. Will we lose a game or two because of COVID? Sure but they are discussing options for replacement games in case. Kind of like pick up basketball.
