Agree. Nice to lift some of the 2020 darkness with college football, the NFL, and the MLB playoffs. Go ‘Stros!

I lived in Tampa for 13 years so the Rays are my second team (after the Orioles) but I fear that Boston 2004 will happen again. Epic collapse.

That said, it won't bother me too much if the Astros prevail. IMO, you guys have caught WAY too much flak for the 2017 cheating scandal. So you stole signs? Big deal, that's been happening since the 1800s. When I was playing Little League, I was taught it was MY job as a pitcher/catcher to protect my signs and that it was fair game for the other team to try and steal them. Some sports have a "culture of cheating", LOL, as in the old NASCAR saying "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying". IMO baseball has always been that way too. Pitchers try to scuff balls and apply ointments, hitters cork bats and use pine tar and both have taken steroids and uppers, etc.. Yes, if you get caught, you take your personal lumps and penalties (so I have zero problem with keeping steroid users out of the HoF), but that never negates a team's victory.

The only difference here is that you guys used cameras to do it and that's supposed to make it 1000x times worse? I just don't buy it. IMO, you won the WS fair and square.

In my admittedly biased opinion, I agree. Stealing signs is as old as the game itself.

Yeah. Way overblown. And apparently they went to a lot of work and didn't get much benefit out of it.

But baseball is that way. There isn't a person who ever saw Pete Rose play who thinks he compromised anything about winning with his gambling. Yet there is a knee jerk reaction to gambling in baseball because of what happened over 100 years ago in the World Series.

Rooting so hard for Dusty Baker. It rubs me the wrong way how analytics people mocked him as if he was some big joke all those years, even though he’s one of the winningest managers of all-time and the first to take 5 cities to the postseason. He deserves to get the final laugh.

Bad attempt at joke removed.

Just hope the tests are done with integrity.

ESPN just said Saban tested negative today as well, so will be on the field for tonight's game.

This is really a difficult circumstance...Saban looks healthy, but he tested positive on Wednesday. Then he tests negative for the virus on Thursday, Friday and again on Saturday.

It really casts doubt on the accuracy of testing...or maybe there are other factors that are not fully understood or communicated.

HIs tests on Thursday and Friday were doubled with the tests going to different labs. Two labs 4 tests all negative. Today's test was negative. What this is looking most like is a false positive on Wednesday. None of these tests are 100% accurate and it happens. I hope that ends the nanny nanny boo boo "integrity" issues from the peanut gallery.

And an observation and question. The SEC is fining breaches in compliance 1 million per occurrence and a school(s) were fined this week but not details released yet. Is there another conference doing this?

A false positive result is the risk with rapid COVID tests. At this point, clinical and public health concerns with the uncontrolled spread is the top priority. But unwinding an error requires time and money...Bama has the resources for all the follow-up confirmatory PCR testing. Regardless, this is a PR issue for Bama and the SEC.

The SEC has had fewer issues than the other conferences already playing and this is like beauty, it's in the mind of the beholder.

Early on they said the tests had about 10% false positives.

And that is one of the two programs rumored to be receiving the fines. Clearly there were problems at Florida and Vanderbilt. Everyone else thus far has been compliant. And as much as I don't like Alabama they've yet to have a player test positive during the play of this season. They had some issues preseason. In Florida's case the story is two players didn't self report when they had symptoms and made the flight to A&M after their final tests before the game showed negative. Both had it on the way home testing positive and the plane flight exposed a lot and probably Mullin as well. I'm sure we'll get more details because the Florida quarantine is not only postponing their current game with L.S.U scheduled this weekend, but also next weeks game with Missouri. I haven't heard a word how things ar going at Vanderbilt right now. But in the SEC those are the two main issues at this time.

But anyway, it will be great to see you kick off next week.

Agreed.
ACC, SEC etc... have done very well managing schedules.
My statement was meant more to a missed opportunity by the BIG, PAC etc...

NO, not even close. Florida's issue seems to be related to spread during flight.

Saban could have been exposed anywhere as well as the A.D. and they might have one exposed the other.

The issue at Vanderbilt was the mess, but they have poor protocol management and a bizarre chain of command for dealing with matters.

L.S.U. is fine, Missouri is fine, and Ole Miss and Texas A&M are fine.

At the end of the 4th week we will have had 2 games postponed until December out of 40.

It is hyperbolic to call it a mess and it is unrealistic to believe that any conference was going to play without some cases.

It's called life and the number of incidences are probably still lower than on the street.

No it's a mess. This is the most important game on Bama's schedule and they will not have their HOF coach on the sideline. But it was an expected mess!

You were saying?

In August, when the SEC said it would kick off on 9/26, I thought there was a better than 50% chance that it would never happen.

So to not only have it happen, but to play four exciting weekends of football with very little disruption of games - a grand total of three have been postponed, and one moved (and that one not because of the virus) has been a very enjoyable surprise.

It's really been a miracle, and if anything, the SEC's record of disruptions is no worse than anyone else's. The SEC accounts for 3 of the 20 games that have been postponed or canceled since they began play. People who assumed the SEC would have a more cavalier approach to the virus have been proved wrong so far.
