Changes can’t be far away.
When does the current CFP contract end, 2024??? I’d expect major changes at that point.

Capping salaries will have zero impact on the G5 and will simply free up money for the P5 to do more for the student athlete. Unless there are restrictions or limitations on how the dollars get spent there's nothing to see here.

2020 has shown everyone that contracts can be broken if both sides want it and benefit.

Sounds like the P5 are trying to completley separate. So the Vandy's will still get millions of dollars while the UCF's will be stuck with peanuts. I dont think the good P5's care while the mediocre and bad ones want nothing to do with sharing the wealth with good G5's.

A lot of P5 better be careful to not split because teams like Mississippi State are going to be the new “G5” of that division.

There won't be any P5 separation. Congress will never allow schools from their districts and states to get left behind, and since the NCAA is mostly public schools they have more than enough leverage to prevent it.

Also, take note of how many P5 ADs in the survey don't think a separation will fix issues of governance or control costs. Just not enough upside to do that.

And THIS is the bottom line. The moment that that is threatened you will see subpoenas and congressional hearings so fast it will make school presidents heads spin.

But that was some schools wanting to control costs more than the big boys wanting to be away fro the hoi polloi.

How many state flagships or state land grant universities were forced down? It will be a bit different when say NM loses both their top tier university teams.

There is no reason for the P5 to start a ruckus when after every year they are sitting like....[Image: 2189bdb345f2f4158a552273869ab466.gif]

Football is great but when the sport becomes the solitary driving factor giving exposure to the degree that the P5 think it should the rest will have a word. It's about more than that. States need their flagships.. This needs to be factored in any changes. Dream on big boys. It ain't going to happen. Ever!

Haha no you won't. If that were the case you'd already be seeing them from the BCS and the CFP monopolies LOL.

Then they can just stop scheduling g5 and fcs and its pretty much the exact same thing. Without money games half of g5 and fcs budgets would automatically be in the red. When the Big 10 decided not to play fcs teams not a peep was made.

Over what? Because the G5 gets more money from the CFP than the CFP would lose if they didn't participate in the NY6?

Or because programs like UCF get left out of the final 4 because they will only play P5s that give them home and homes instead of swallowing their pride and taking a 2-for-1 or paycheck games with the big boys?

And yet, not only have they not stopped the games, the prices and payouts have gone up. Do you really think a sense of generosity is the only thing keeping these games going?

Nope. The lower tier of the P5 wants their wins to get to bowls, and the upper tier of the P5 wants more home game to make more in ticket sales.

You're not getting it. It's a status quo right now and everyone is relatively ok with where they are at vs. who they perceive themselves to be. But moving flagships down a level would be the last straw.

We lost our P5 game this year and we are still good. Budget accordingly. However it's not in the P5's interest to not play us. A lot of those 11-1 and 12-0 records would disappear.
