It does seem to me NMSU got three out of four away games with teams in the lower half.

But maybe I'm just bitter that we'll have to face the Big Bad Wolf away, twice, in two days.

I do think that it is nice that Dixie and Tarleton get both GCU and NMSU at home.
I as like that UTRGV and Cal Baptist are in Las Cruces.

I think Dixie and Tarleton get both GCU and NMSU because they’re easy wins. I’d rather play those 2 teams away with a schedule like this and play the tough teams at home. Plus if there is fans in the stands those teams won’t sell.

I’m actually happy we don’t play you guys twice in 2 days at your home. That could very well be a split.

Do you not think the name Billy Gillespie would sell some tickets? I get the team this year, but I think BCG sells tickets. Or am I overestimating his perceived name recognition?

I think he will down the road. But as far as scheduling this year it doesn’t really matter. I would consider you and Dixie as desired places to play the way this year’s schedule is made out to be.

Honestly Tarleton fans would feel the same way if things were reversed.

To the average college student at Tarleton, Billy Gillespie is a guy that coached at Texas Tech one year while they were in elementary school.

Now, if they follow basketball or are curious, they’ll be more impressed. The general public will know more about him.

I think you maybe overestimating. Maybe see if that gave Ranger's attendance a bump?

I think the combo of Billy Clyde and the move to D1 will cause some excitement and lead to an attendance increase. But the TS high school gym is tiny so it won’t take much to fill it up. 05-stirthepot

Apparently I misunderstood the other’s statement as my original response was for selling tickets at our away games. I think we will sell out or very nearly sellout every home game we have.

This is assuming we have fans at the games.

Oh no I think you were right about what he meant. I misunderstood, but even then you could look at Ranger's away games attendance.

That said I'd bet most fans go to games to watch their team play, not tp watch their opponents coach coach. How many times have you ever cared about who the opponents coach is?

The only time I cared about the coach while I was at NMSU was when Jason Rabidoux was at UTEP just because he was crazy and Bobby Knight at Texas Tech. I imagine that when UNM comes to town NMSU fans just want to beat the Aggies former coach.

Other than that, coaches do not usually sell tickets.

Exactly this Rob. How many Tarleton fans are going to buy tickets to see coach Jans this year? Very few coaches actually sell tickets in the nation and the WAC doesn’t have any of them. BCG name does carry some weight in the industry but you school does not. Heck NMSUs name doesn’t carry much weight to the common fan across the US but carries more in the industry.

C'mon man. Are you one of those guys that doesn't know New Mexico is a state, or are you just disputing the "Great" part?

I think he's disputing the greatness of New Mexico.

Unless things have changed, I recall seeing Gonzaga, A&M and ACU were announced.

Gonzaga and A&M are impressive if they stay on the schedule. Do you recall if either of them are going to Las Cruces?

I hear they tried, but the slots were already taken by the NM Military Institute and Northern NM Comnunity College.

Funny this guy forgets that last season Tarleton was squeaking by Eastern NM. You’re not playing ENMU or WNMU anymore buddy Tarleton will get to play THE New Mexico State Aggies.

We do have a glorified HS gym... $72 million and groundbreaking in a year will change that.

Dixie State seems to have a full schedule including OOC up.

Weber State, Denver, Utah State, Southern Utah, Gonzaga (!!), the rest non-DI.

They start their WAC season with two games each at NMSU, RGV, GCU, and CBU. Good luck with that, if they manage 2-6 it will be better than expected.
