Navy and SMU both won national championships and had Heisman winners back in the day. SMU was an SWC member early on, Tulane an SEC member early on, and Tulsa went to several major bowl games back in the day (Sugar and Orange). The others either don't have any past affiliation to major conferences and major bowl games or joined in the modern era. Houston has achieved some major milestones in the modern era including late entry into the SWC, a Heisman, and NY6 game. Cincinnati and USF joined the Big East much later on and Cincinnati landed in major bowl games recently. UCF has been the best of all the teams in this league but has no long-term history.

I mean, we've had a program for a long time, but we've sucked for most of our history basically until the last 13 years.

USF was in CUSA as a non-football member from 1995-2005 and as a full member 2003-2005.
