Don't know, didn't care about UCF when they were in MAC much less after.

wikipedia Wrote:The difficult coaching transition for 2004, the Knights' final year in the Mid-American Conference, saw the team hit rock bottom, going 0–11.
In 2005, UCF started their first season as a member of Conference USA. Not expected to improve much over 2004, they surprisingly won their first conference game against Marshall, 23–13, ending the school's 17-game losing streak, then the nation's longest such streak. UCF fans celebrated by storming the field and tearing down the goal posts. Students came back to the campus and celebrated further by jumping into UCF's Reflection Pond (a practice normally reserved for Spirit Splash). UCF then went on to win eight out of the remaining nine games on their schedule, finishing 7–1 in C-USA games and 8–5 overall, winning the East Division and hosting the first ever C-USA Championship game, which they lost, 44–27, to Tulsa.

Why were they placed in the poll? Of course someone was going to vote for them!

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
Kent just updated their rosters. Last year they had 7 OLinemen under 280lbs. This year.... 0.
Crum was sacked 38 times last year and escaped a bunch.
Kent's offense has some real potential this year.
Their Linebacker corps appear to have beefed up significantly as well.
They play a 3-4 and.appear ready to actually play that this year.
But this is all just on paper!
Excited to see how it plays out!

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
Hindsight is 20/20 especially so in a fluid national climate.
But it's unfortunate we didn't start after Labor Day with the other G5s. We'd only have about 2 or 3 games left right now (and selfishly, WMU would've gotten Notre Dame $$). Not to mention we'd be the only game in town in the Midwest.
Or it would've even been nice to start yesterday alongside the Big Ten. Squeeze in a weekend of decent weather.
Instead we are starting in November, which may wind up being the worst month of the entire pandemic if trends continue as they are. I'm still holding my breath about the sustainability of our season.

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
From a TV perspective, it was actually better that we did not start with the BIG10.
MWC started with BIG10 and MAC starts with PAC12. It seems better for EAST/WEST TV time for football.
We are the PAC12 partner this year and it should be better not competing with the BIG10 for TV.
Of course, we all know we want to watch MACTION >>>>> overrated BIG10TV Network.

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
I simulated a full season in NCAA Football 2014 with the latest 2020 rosters downloaded and uploaded, so here’s how that played out FWIW:
1) Kent St - Dustin Crum was a Heisman finalist & led the Golden Flashes to a BCS Bowl appearance
2) Buffalo
3) Toledo
4) Ball St.
5) Ohio
6) Miami
7) NIU
8) WMU
9) BG
10) Akron
11) EMU
12) CMU

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
Is it even possible to predict a season like this? Anything could happen. We've already seen the chaos in both CFB and NFL.
A cancelled season. A reboot with a new schedule starting in November. Only 6 games, no non-cons. Constant testing and anxiety about getting Covid. Positive tests and contact tracing could bench a number of players every game, it could decimate whole position groups or get a game cancelled or rescheduled. No fans in the stands. The status of marching bands, cheerleaders, dance teams, etc, up in the air. Opt-outs. No eligibility usage or punishment this season.
It's just wild stuff.
It's all going to come down to which staff kept their players motivated and in shape throughout this crazy offseason. Success in the Covid-era is going to put the pressure on coaching more than ever. Which staff came keep their players disciplined? Keep them from partying, keep them wearing masks, make sure they're doing everything they need to do to continue to play the game. Positive tests will ruin a team's season.
It's going to be a mad dash to the finish line, and I can't wait for this MACtion.

Lol that sounds the most plausible. Wonder what would happen to McElwain if his team did indeed finish in last place.

RE: MAC FB PREDICTIONS
I think CMU could win it all -- or very possibly Not. CMU should be interesting.
WMU has depth, and I think we'll perform better than expected (when on the skeptical side as a Bronco fan) -- but we won't win it.
Safe bet: Toledo vs Miami-OH-Yeah.

Indeed, easier to predict if everyone stays healthy but that's unlikely. The best team when healthy may not win that week. Look at Wisconsin, their top 2 QBs tested positive and are out for 21 days. Most MAC teams will be hurting if they lose their top 2 QBs for a game or two.
