ECU wins this game by 2 touchdowns with Ahlers. No passing game at all today.

Great game Navy. I think we would have had a real shot to take this one with QB1. It’s a step in the right direction. Wish we played you guys every year.

Pirates are going to surprise a team or two before the season is over.

Good game Navy. Really not pleased it sounds like Holton might have had a false positive test, but oh well.

Despite a fine defensive game our offense wastes it by once again failing to hold up their side of the bargain vs Navy. It has happened all but once in the series.

Good win for Navy. We had lots of little mistakes that fixing one or two of them might have made a difference. Navy played a consistent game and earned the W.
Next year. 04-cheers

He seemed to get more comfortable as the game went along, which is why I question why he was never given snaps in the blow out losses to UCF and Ga. St. It took him some time to find his footing, he may have done better earlier if he had seen live action in those two games.

I haven’t felt this optimistic about the future of ECU football following a loss since we lost the opener to VT in 2007.

It’s so clear that this team is buying what coach Houston is selling. They are young and there still be bumps and bruises along the way, but they do not repeat mistakes the was pirate teams have for the last decade.

Thanks. I hope we get to see you next year - I don't know who will rotate on/off the schefule in the divisionless format

Yes, good game Navy! It's a mark of a good program to continue to win even during a rebuilding year, if just simply out of habit. Navy was well coached and made the plays necessary to prevail on the road. I know I sound like a sore loser in the contact tracing thread but I do stand by my opinion that w/ Ahlers (& 4 other impact players), ECU would have won yesterday. However, I should point out that in the 2nd half, Navy had to bring in a backup QB & he still got the job done. Nevertheless, it is disappointing to lose, at least in part, due to an unnecessary policy (dare I say arbitrary and capricious). It also hurts to lose to a team that ECU has struggled against. Frankly, we just owe the Navy at this point. That said, if I had to pick which conference rival for ECU to have its worst winning percentage against, it would certainly be the United States Naval Academy. Good luck the rest of the way!

Some interesting quotes on Navy's final fourth down conversion:
"A lot of people would see that as a risk, but to be honest I don’t. I have full confidence in the coaching staff and full confidence in my guys to get the job done,” Goslin said. “It was just another play call and it was our culture versus theirs at that point.”

"It was really a culture play for us,” Smith said of the fourth-down conversion. “Our linemen had to get down and dig into the ground and I had to hit it as a fullback to make sure I got past the down markers.”

If that's the case then we almost had a culture change because if he got the 1st down he barley made it. I thought it was a generous spot & should have been reviewed. I do like how ECU's extremely young and undermanned D played.

He was a half a yard short. Shocked we didn’t challenge.

This...from the one replay I saw, it appeared that he was down before he stretched forward for the first down.
