Coastal could leapfrog since they beat a ranked opponent

Does Coastal Carolina have an open date that both teams could play? IF so, should be made, sounds like a great matchup, and their stadium's 2 mins from my boss's house, so I'd be there if on the road. I drive by that stadium a bunch, can't wait to see what it's like inside w/ the new upgrades they've done the last couple yrs., good team. And if not Coastal, maybe Liberty who waxed Syracuse today.

#27 NCST won and may leap frog us because they are ACC.
#32 Coastal beats #21 ULL so do they just flip?
I don't know how these committees view teams or how they actually feel about us. You would think we'd just slide in but then again there are five teams ahead of us that haven't even played a single down of football. One of which in USC at #25 that has been garbage and finished unranked the last two seasons. Michigan is another that faceplants every season. So how on earth are they top25 without even playing.

They also have a win over Kansas I believe. Yes it's Kansas, but we know how much these committees love their P5 schools.

All three: Auburn, Tennessee and Louisiana drop out.
I could see WVU and Coastal Carolina make the leap into the top 25.
Coastal Carolina will appear at #23, WVU at #24, and Marshall will do well to make the #25 appearance.

There is even a scenario where Marshall gets leapfrogged by all of WVU, Coastal Carolina and NC State.

Coastal beat an overrated Louisiana team, I don’t see them moving up as many spots as others do. Once they start playing I think App State still wins this conference.

I really like Coastal's freshman QB, Grayson McCall, kid has a bright future.
UAB hosts the "over-rated" Ragin Cajuns this weekend, should be a good game.

A G5 team beating a P5 team on the road and being 3-0 makes them being ranked very valid. Iowa St going on to a very good season also helps.
But beating Kansas helps CC a lot, but you are right in that beating UL does not mean as much for ranking as beating a P5. I think they have a good chance to be ranked, but not any higher than 24-25.

Liberty will also be on the radar....
They'll pick up quite a few votes beating Syracuse the way they did.
Any of the teams I mentioned , honestly, should be ranked over Minnesota and USC. That would be the reasonable thing to do. However, these are unreasonable men and women in many cases voting on tings with inherent bias's.

Very impressed by Marshall. You guys look legit, and even though we still have a way to go, it appears right now that the C-USA title is yours to lose.

I agree it is Marshall’s to lose but how many times have we heard that before.

Yeah, but everyone knew Marshall was really sleepwalking the past 5 years. This year’s team has a QB (he’s been top 2 nationally in 2 of his 4 weeks played in QBR), one of the best offensive lines in the nation, probably our fastest defense ever, and is going to pound everyone left on its schedule.

MAYBE pound everyone.
I'm hopeful we can get another OOC game on November 28.
I also held hope we could squeeze in a game with UAB on November 7th, but it looks as if the UAB AD has nads of pea pods, and won't pick up the phone now.

Honestly, I see signs of life in this La Tech team, and if things break their way against UAB, they can easily win the West.
They had guys out, we had some guys out, and both teams fought hard. Who was that player for La Tech that caught the long screen? That dude is FAST! La Tech always have athletes. Every year.
Not easy to pick up the win. La Tech fans please don't take this the wrong way, but we've made a lot of teams look bad against us. It's clear, you have some work to do in the running game and pass protection. However, your team looked a lot better than WKU.
This is probably Holtz worse team talent wise since 2013. OL is our biggest issue, Willie Allen (likely NFL draft pick and our best OL) opted out of this season. Now has entered the transfer portal and is going to play for Michigan next year.
We are thin in the secondary also. And of course QB.
Holtz best chance to win CUSA was last year and we all know how that turned out.

Cincinnati and SMU is going to have to lose to give Marshall an opening into the G5 NY6 race.
There is a lot of parity in the AAC, the no defense conference so one of those teams losing is a good possibility.

I just wanted to congratulate Marshall on a well played game. We hung around for a bit, but you guys were clearly the better team Saturday. Best of luck to you guys. I also met a fan and his family at the Dawg House who were nothing but nice. They drove in from Huntington and had nothing but nice things to say about Ruston, even with the pandemic going on. I hope I can one day make it up there and see a game as well. That being said, our OL is horrible and we have a long way to go before we can compete for a championship.
