Still trying to digest yesterday’s huge embarrassing failure. Need time to think about next week’s loss.

Don't look now but ESPN's FPI gives ECU a 61.5% chance at home vs 1st place Navy.

Also, I just noticed that Tulsa plays its 3rd consecutive opponent ranked #11 in the AP poll to begin the season.

FPI doesn't like the stats Navy's offense delivers, even in a really good year.
FPI HATES 2020 Navy given the BYU and AF losses and the nature of them.

Smu- a win should solidify their top25 status
Houston- should have a great chance to enter the top25 with some help
Cincy- could continue their slow but steady rise into the top 10(I call it the AAC shuffle)
Temple-can start to right the ship here
NAVY- ditto
MEMPHIS- a chance to reclaim our top25 status on the why to the conference championship game.
All of my picks are for maximum top 25 placement next week. It's time for the AAC to reassert our place in the polls.

To your point, Vegas opens with Navy as a 3-point favorite although that's already down to -2.

Hopefully, coach Houston is starting to turn the corner with this team and they'll display the discipline he's been instilling so that we can actually play assignment football against you guys for 4 quarters. When ECU came into this league the only 2 teams that had a winning record vs the Pirates were USF & Navy. I know they're both down (although a down Navy is still solid) but to beat both teams in successive weeks would be a tremendous momentum booster for this program coming from where we've been since Ruff was fired.

It is totally reasonable for any collge football fan - especially those making "investments" - to say "I don't know what the heck to think about Navy this year."
I liked what I saw from the offense this week.

To me, the key is how many of the missing dfensive studs come back from injury: NG Saipaia, LBs Tuitele and Fagot, S Fochtman. Other guys stepped up, but Russo looked really good and Ahlers could do the same.

Edited to add: What is the outlook for fan attendance?

I'm not optimistic. Among the obvious reasons is that we need to improve our open field tackling. Even in a decisive win, the Pirates had more missed tackles on Saturday than in either of their first two losses. That makes for a LONG day against Navy.

Sorry about the delay, with stuff happening and with some rumored news I held out on posting these a few days ago but... with stuff I had to do today I couldn't get these out earlier till now.

Friday 10/6

#_ SMU @ Tulane ESPN
MY LINE SMU 47-37 ulane has been able to score but I think the SMU offense is a better machine right now.

#_ BYU @ Houston ESPN
MY LINE: Houston 41-38 I'm expecting a high scoring affair. Houston was on point last week and obviously BYU is a T25 team.

Saturday 10/17

#_ Cinci @ Tulsa ESPN2
*PPD*

USF @ Temple ESPN+
MY LINE: Temple 35-20 I mean, ECU lit USF up, but I think USF bounces back... sort of. Temple should still win though.

Navy @ ECU ESPN2
MY LINE: Navy 48-30 Navy has looked like two completely different animals between their OOC and their Conference games so far and ECU had a big confidence boost from the USF blowout win. That said, ECU Navy has been VERY one sided so until the Pirates do it, they haven't done it. Also, a lot of Covid weirdness is surrounding this game as well.

UCF @ Memphis ABC
MY LINE: UCF 45-41 Memphis has been scoring fairly well, but UCF has also been putting in work. I see a high scoring close game.

Better late than never.

REALITY SAID: SMU 37-34 Man, Tulane is so close...
1-0

#_ BYU @ Houston ESPN
MY LINE: Houston 41-38 I'm expecting a high scoring affair. Houston was on point last week and obviously BYU is a T25 team.
REALITY SAID: BYU 43-26That 4th quarter though....
1-1

Saturday 10/17

#_ Cinci @ Tulsa ESPN2
*PPD*

USF @ Temple ESPN+
MY LINE: Temple 35-20 I mean, ECU lit USF up, but I think USF bounces back... sort of. Temple should still win though.
REALITY SAID: Temple 39-37 Way closer game than I thought, and USF really did get it going offensively... interesting.
2-1

Navy @ ECU ESPN2
MY LINE: Navy 48-30 Navy has looked like two completely different animals between their OOC and their Conference games so far and ECU had a big confidence boost from the USF blowout win. That said, ECU Navy has been VERY one sided so until the Pirates do it, they haven't done it. Also, a lot of Covid weirdness is surrounding this game as well.
REALITY SAID: Navy 27-23 Lots of covid testing questions surrounding the outcome of this game. That said, considering how Navy normally mops the floor with us this is a very positive sign.
3-1

UCF @ Memphis ABC
MY LINE: UCF 45-41 Memphis has been scoring fairly well, but UCF has also been putting in work. I see a high scoring close game.
REALITY SAID: Memphis 50-49 Interesting game to say the least.
3-2

Better late than never.

Well, I didn't have a losing record.
