For the record, WSU has already hired Jans once after the BG incident. If the donors want Jans, we will get Jans.

“In response to the allegations put forward in the media, I simply state unequivocally that I have never physically struck a player or colleague,” Marshall wrote. “Allegations claiming otherwise are false.”
Balderdash!
How can he claim not to have struck any player or colleague when he is plainly captured on videotape pushing and shoving 7 or 8 players and coaches on the day of the exhibition game that he was ejected from?

Interesting. Do you know if Memphis made him an offer? What other schools were looking at him? Just curious.
I heard Memphis set up an interview with Marshall in Wichita, then when our AD and others arrived, he refused to see us. So no offer ever made.
That is so bizarre if it really happened, that Marshall could be diagnosed as having a severe "dissociative disorder" (e.g., split personality) or a severe case of borderline personality disorder, with a comorbid narcissistic personality disorder.
In other words, it sounds like he's "nuts!"

Lol he might be done (probably should be) but it will have nothing to do with the faculty. Last time they got involved the president got let go for listening to them

I have a buddy that was recruited by him when he was at Winthrop and he liked him. Now, that was recruiting but the only reason he didn’t go was family issues. He’s from Nashville and picked Lipscomb over Winthrop and Belmont.

I think serious consideration should be given to this. A huge boost for Wichita and the conference. Don't worry about Pitino perception.......just win baby! Would WSU fans/admin consider this move?

you dont fire Gregg Marshall for perception reasons to hire Rick Pitino ..zero percent chance of happening
if you are going with the "perception be damned" route.. you just stick with Marshall

That's the grand slam hire. That's an experienced coach, that isn't coaching right now, that not only wins, but is known as the "nice guy" coach. The perfect coach to steady and likely improve the program if we have to let Gregg go (which is seeming more likely)

I hope this happens, best for the school and the conference. This fan base deserves a grand slam hire.

RE: Greg Marshall under internal investigation
I'm late to post and didn't read the entire thread, but...
...5 players confirmed to the local writer who covers WSU that they saw Shaq Morris get punched in the back of the head. 8 confirmed that they saw Marshall put his hand around an assistant's throat. All requested to remain anonymous.
It's not thought that Marshall is actually racist, but it's not hard to believe he resorts to racially insensitive language when chewing a player's butt Just my opinion but I don't buy the "he didn't mean that in a racist way". That's a common excuse made for racists.
Tough time for the Athletic Director. He's got to go to the donors and work out their reaction to firing Marshall, how much it might cost to fire him, even with due cause. Then there's the question of continued donations if Marshall is gone.
Marshall may have screwed himself when he went public with an absolute total denial of any wrong doing. It's possible to have forgiveness and good PR for someone who admits a mistake and vows to correct his actions. He basically challenged anyone with a complaint to go on record in the investigation. That may have prompted some to cooperate in the investigation who had hoped they wouldn't have to.
If he stays, can he still recruit?
6 or 7 years ago (I think), Chris Jans grabbed a woman's butt in a bar. Bowling Green fired him. YHe's been clean ever since and has had a great run at New Mexico State. I think WSU could hire him without too much of a problem. It's thought that Jans was the assistant keeping Marshall under control before he left for a HC gig at Bowling Green.

RE: Greg Marshall under internal investigation
I'm sure he did all of those things. His ex-assistant refusing to comment on whether or not he was choked says it all.
it sucks because he is a great coach and didn't need to resort to type of behavior. the only defense i can see is that kids now a days think anything is a punch. and in all honesty if you were punched in the back of the head it would be obvious and i doubt any player let a lone a person would just take that. he may have gave a quick flick on the back of the head the same way i do my son when he bugs me.
but i do find myself thinking...if Greg is a hothead and gets a quick temper and so does his wife. you ever wonder what type of scenario plays out when they argue with each other? like is all of the dishes made of plastic because they are used to throwing them at each other across the room when they get upset. Does this argument last for days? who wins? is this like a Mr. and Mrs. Smith fight scene all day?
