The entire article is posted here in this thread. Read it.

Is this a real allegation or just another Social/Political "I'm not happy and someone has to pay for that" inclusion BS?

Can we stop "Lynching" people until there is real proof of wrong doing please.

"Innocent until proven guilty"... Allegations do not equate to a trial!
Someone posted the article in it’s entirety. You did not read it, did you? Be honest.
The vast majority of that article has no "proof". Very few things are backed up by non-anonymous sources

The punch is backed by the person that was punched and 1 other player. So I believe it happened. I'm just really curious why it's coming out now 5 years later.

They have a quote from an unnamed player whom they said he came forward to let recruits know because he would have never played for Marshall had he known. Also have multiple witnesses of him shoving hitting Shaq Morris. I don't see him making it.

Shaq Morris and Ty Taylor are named. Shaq says Marshall hit him in the jaw from behind. Maybe you really should read the articles.

(10-09-2020 08:30 AM)Stickboy46 Wrote:  I wrote this on the Shocker forum but there are 2 pieces here that scream hit job for at least PART of the article.

1. There was a lady "connected" to the program that was saying this was coming early early this week. Rumor is she's heavily involved in this. This same lady has been banned from being near the team due to stalking players MULTIPLE times and trying to be their "unofficial psychologist". She's had an axe to grind against the AD and Coach ever since they told her she wasn't allowed to contact the players anymore. Since she knew about this last week, she was pretty obviously involved in the data gathering part.

2. The 2015-16 stuff is bad and obviously openly corroborated (though maybe not after some posts this morning). The rest of the stuff screams it came from Erik.
Of the Named players that were treated poorly:

Shaq: Obvious but he still stayed all 5 years.
Poor Bear: Was one of the few that chose NOT to even try to transfer, yet was supposedly taunted racially
Echenique: Only here 2 years, but by all accounts had a great relationship with coach
Bilau: Didn't transfer
Udeze: Started to transfer, got high major offers yet STILL decided to come back.
Erik: The obvious source of this

So of all the players mentioned by name that were targets of Marshall's aggression/bad behavior were part of the small subset that actually stayed with the team. Only Erik was a named player that got taunted and left? That is extremely odd.

Erik is the ONLY player that left last year that has not gotten his waiver. It's also been rumored that several current players and recruits have said that he reached out to them to "warn" them of the program after he decided to transfer. According to UW fan boards, UW submitted his request really late for a waiver which screams to me they knew this was coming out.

At least one former player (Cleanthony Early) has come out saying there is no way he believes Marshall would throw around racial insults like that. That's kind of the general consensus from people that know him. He's not racist at all. Nearly all of them would probably believe the anger problems and snapping obviously though.

So I'm leaning towards this is only half true and the other half is hit job. Either way, the damage is done unfortunately and unless WSU can get players on record saying this didn't happen that were supposedly there ... then I don't know if WSU can continue with him or they should anyways.

Do you think he deserves to keep coaching if he is throwing around racial slurs, assaulting players and assistants and harassing people who park in his spot?

Actions have consequences...

Here .. let me repost a part from that exact message you just quoted.

"So I'm leaning towards this is only half true and the other half is hit job. Either way, the damage is done unfortunately and unless WSU can get players on record saying this didn't happen that were supposedly there ... then I don't know if WSU can continue with him or they should anyways."

Next time read the whole thing.

But you seem to be defending him which I don't understand. You are saying the damage has been done and you cant keep him. That is based on a public opinion.

I am asking for your opinion...If you were making this decision and the public didn't know anything about it.

No where did i defend him. I'm challenging the accusations.

If this is all true he's gone IMO.
If this is part true .. he's likely still gone but really would come down to which parts are true and whether I thought there was a actually successful path forward where he would change so it wouldn't happen again (counseling, monitoring etc etc).

So no I haven't defended any of these SUPPOSED actions. Just challenging the validity of them considering the vast majority of them come from "anonymous" sources.

I am on board with your assessment of whether you get rid of him...Based only on your opinion.

It is a risk reward proposition when it is internal.

The whole Shaq deal is understandable..should have been handled differently but if Shaq intentionally made a play to take out another one of his players I understand the anger.

Racial jokes are a little different and that would require a great deal more research. But based on the research it would be either sensitivity training or dismissal.

The one that would give me the most pause is choking of the assistant...That would be the one that I likely couldn't forgive. No logical reason for that to happen.

But as you said...Once this gets out to the public the witch trials have begun.

I have extremely low confidence that the "verbal" items against the current players are true IMO. There is a very obvious scorned player that has an extremely out of whack view of himself that would have no problem making something up. Those are also ALL backed by "anonymous sources".

Oh I missed the detail of where he was struck. I saw in the back.

If he it him in the Jaw...Then yeah that is unforgiveable as well.

IF Marshall is gone:
1. Back the Brinks truck up to John Beilein and make him say no right now

2. If he says no, promote Isaac Brown to interim head coach

3. If Isaac Brown doesn't overachieve this year, hire a new head coach during the likely larger than normal coaching carousel in the spring.

One report has collaborated reports that say back

The other report has collaborated reports that saw jaw.

One of the reports collaborated sources are wrong.

There is nothing in this article that warrants an investigation or Marshall losing his job... What does Zach Brown have to say about this?

The article by the Athletic is behind a paywall and is in "Appearance" "click bait".

Let the Investigation take it's course.

Maybe, but the NCAA might have something to say about it if the violations are serious enough.

Oh yes , The NCAA, that "Fair and just non profit organization" that gave SMU the deaf penalty but looked the other way when it involved Penn State, North Carolina , and Baylor... Just to name a few in recent history, we will leave Miami (FL) out of this for now.

If the Shockers don't fire him... they're going to have a hell of a time trying to compete in recruiting with this stuff out there. If I'm Frank Haith and I'm going up against Marshall in a recruiting battle, I'm bringing this article with me.

Will be interesting to see how this affects WSU's recruiting. I can't imagine a kid wanting to play for this guy after this article has gone national.

Haith should be hoping Marshall doesn't get fired because he normally like to grab Marshall's transfers anyways!

Let me guess, you think that Bob Huggins was so guilty that he should have been banned from ever coaching basketball again.

I'm just saying let the investigation take place, wait for the facts, and then pass judgment, not the other way around.

... And don't pin your hopes on the NCAA bein a fair and impartial "judge", look at their handling of SMU death penalty, and a "Love Tap" on the wrist of Penn State, Baylor, North Carolina (Memphis got punished for that one), and Miami (FL).
