Very common throughout the country with the current situation. Furloughs, unfilled positions and temporary pay cuts also happened at UTEP recently and I wouldn't doubt it has or will happen at all schools. It happened at Texas recently also and they are richer than God.

Well they have to pay Taggart some how until they realize they have a Seth Litterel situation on their hands like UNT did. To be frank this is happening at P5's even with their huge TV Revenue so this will more than likely gonna impact almost all G5 schools.

Ohio St cut 25 full time positions and are millions in debt. It’s gonna be brutal for all AD’s big and small.

FSU is paying Taggart lol. FAU actually saved money hiring Taggart because Lane was more expensive.

FSU owes Taggart 20+ Mil less his FAU Salary, so roughly 18 mil over 3 years. FAU is paying Taggart $750K, which is less than Lane’s $900K + $200K home loan forgiveness.

Oh in that case you guys are in a better position than i thought. If Taggart pans out then that is not a bad investment if not you can kick him out and look for a replacement with out much to lose. Jokes on the crab legs university which ends up paying roughly 18 MM.

To the best of my knowledge North Texas has not cut positions or salaries. Last I heard we were running a surplus, even after losing millions when COVID shut everything down. Plus with the 4.5% increase in fall enrollment, the athletic department should have even more student fee money to spend. So no.... FAU does not have a UNT situation.

While its great that UNT is fine financially they did eliminate expenses to make up for a budget shortfall as this article explains. Also, your AD did say he would try to avoid cutting salaries and we will see how that goes.

Yeah FAU is definitely in a better position for the near future. I would give it a couple of months to see if any cuts happen at UNT because it might not be obvious at this point to anyone outside AD.

I almost certain I posted that article back when it was written. Eliminating expenses was easy. When all the spring sports got canceled, we eliminated the expenses of travel and lodging for half of the year. The NCAA also extended the dead period for recruiting, so we saved money there too. Eliminating expenditures was a natural occurrence.

Our AD clearly stated he was canceling all "experience trips" to save money, but then announced our basketball team would be playing in the Diamond Head Classic next year. Maybe a donor coughed up the cash for that trip. Hawaii isn't a cheap place.

At any rate, we are okay for now. But, it is 2020 and anything could happen. I will say that if we come to a point where North Texas has to cut salaries, I hope they start with Littrell. He isn't earning his anyway.

FSU is paying Taggart 17 mil...we are paying him $750k, pretty cheap.

RE: FAU athletic cuts?
If memory serves, Todd Stewart (WKU AD) said in an interview earlier this year that losing out on college football playoff money would be a much bigger budget hit for us than losing NCAA bball tourney credits since CUSA is (sadly) just a one bid league. My guess is that most other G5 ADs would say the same, so lets hope that the playoffs happen as planned or cuts will probably get even deeper.

Aint that right. Even P5's are having money troubles and if you really believe that you guys are not prone to additional stress on finances due to this pandemic plus having to pay that crazy money to litterell then you are welcome to believe whatever you want to but most G5s will not be in the same boat. Even with a 5 MM donation and 1/3 season tix holders donating their refunds we are expecting paycuts and furloughs at ODU but nothing solid at this point.

Oh believe me, we know. In fact our AD is probably getting an ulcer from our fans pointing it out too. But, none of that changes the fact this guy is just making stuff up.

Of course every program is being effected by the current state of college football. No logical person denies that, and I don't know why you think I disagree on that issue.
