RE: *** Official Tulane @ Houston Game Thread ***
In the past are the days that Tulane was "mark that a W on the schedule" for Houston. Tulane has won 2 of the last 3 though both wins were in NOLA. This should be a competitive game.

What we know:
-Tulane has strong running game with plenty of talent
-Houston has a strong passing game with plenty of talent
-Tulane's d-line is arguably the best in the conference and has strong pass rushers.
-Houston's Defense is filled with Upperclassmen on the two deep.

What we don't know:
- Houston's defense was a liability last year and having experience doesn't necessarily mean better.
- Houston's Offense was missing some games last year. Will new OC Shannon Dawson make them more consistent.
- Tulane's QB play in the first two games was terrible. They made a change to freshman in game three and put up 66 points, but that was USM how will he fare vs Houston.
- Tulane's DB play was bad the first two games again they made personnel changes to younger players and held a good passing USM team to 299 yards when they while USM was passing playing catchup.

H2H has been even at 3-3 since yall joined the AAC. So yah I'd say the days of yall being an easy win are over. If this was both teams 1st game, I'd take UH by TD. However that's not the case. I can't help but feel like the three games yall have played are going to make the difference. Hope I'm wrong but I'm leaning towards picking Tulane to win.

for the "what we know" didnt tulane just lose its star RB for the year and struggled to run after he was injured in your last game?

and houston has some elite wr, but qb is the big question mark, passing game might not be strong. if you remove homerism and coachspeak.. Tune has been mediocre at best and turnover prone.. if you add back coachspeak..Holgerson LOVES tune, crowned him "our starter for the next 2 years" in January last year, before even spring practice.. says his struggles were because he was thrown in, wasnt expecting to play (he also chose not bring in any qb this offseason, there is no other good qb. if tune goes down or sucks, holgs son is the backup)

the biggest question mark will be how do all the new players look.. we redshirted 34 players last year.. outside of QB, on paper every position group looks very good.. but thats on paper, they havent proven anything with UH yet..we were still a 4-8 team last year

Our freshman Qb made a huge difference last week. It wasn't by throwing for a zillion yards, but by avoiding the offense being one dimensional. Tulane's offensive struggles during the Fritz era have been when the passing game vacillated from 'serviceable' to 'non-existent.' This happened two years ago in Houston and yall left us in the dust. We started the year with grad transfer(Howard) from USM who proved to be the most inaccurate passer I have seen in a while. We then move to a solidly rated Freshman(Pratt) who is a bonified pocket passer, the first in the Fritz era. So the though around here the ceiling on the offense is different from this point on compared to ay point in the past under Fritz.

I have heard as much about Tune and I have watched yall in more than the Tulane games. I am aware that his games vs UCF, Memphis, and Tulsa last year were not were yall want him to be, which is able to keep up in a shootout Memphis/UCF or score more than 89 yards passing. What really stuck out from Tune last year was the low number of pass attempts. 30 or less for a Holgs offense seemed off. What is up with that?

As for Tulane's RB(Spears) yes he was injured, but we have a ton of good RB's. I'm not being a homer on this. Spears went out of the game in the first quarter scoring Tulane's first TD of the game. We went on to score 59 more points after that. The next guy up, Carrol, leads the nation in scoring. Vs USM he ran for 163 with 4 TDs, he also had 2 tds vs Navy and 2 vs USA. Tulane's rb3, Hunderson, ran for 114 yards and a score vs USM.

This is exactly my take. Tough to pick any team playing their first game during all this nonsense.

RB is by far our deepest position. We did lose one of our star running backs, and then he was replaced by Cam Caroll our other Star running back who leads the nation with 8TD’s.

My Question is how will 30+ transfers play for Houston ?

And the most important question is how does our true Freshman play against a step up in talent.

Should be a good game, Roll Wave!

That remains to be seen. We're the Schrödinger's cat of college football.
