if you are talking about the returns on paper we are stacked there..

marquez stevenson was seen at the top KR in the league and a preseason all-american according to phil steele

and one of our transfers Marcus jones was a national all-American KR at Troy before coming to UH

There was some piss poor tackling / coverage on Tulane's part on those returns. I'm not saying your guys aren't good... just that Tulane's kicking team was gar-ba-ge.... that's french for trash.

Funny thing for a Tulsa fan to say. Same guy Stevenson took 1 to the house against Tulsa last year in a close ga.e.

Should be a good matchup and an exciting Cougars versus Cougars game next weekend. Should be plenty of Blue Cougar fans in the stands, despite the limited capacity. Wish I could make it.

Glad we were able to get a game in before next week. Yall've looked dominant so far. Big test for our O and D lines. Very interested to see how we fair.

Potential first rounders usually do that to the opposition.

Not saying he isn't or a knock on him.

Just saying:
Not odd for a Tulsa fan to say, our special teams have been awful (excluding punter) for years and years now. We are well versed in examples of bad special teams. Occasional bright spots, had a strip fumble on a kick off vs UCF this year and we got a good kick off recovery vs SMU last year, but generally we trash.

Good players make bad teams pay big. Stevenson is very good.

RE: *** Official Tulane @ Houston Game Thread ***
We are tracking about like I hoped we would. I knew we'd be significantly better this year due to the transfer talent that came on line this year, the excessive red shirting, and the players as a whole entering year 2 under the same offensive and defensive systems. I also figured Tune would be better with a year of experience and a full spring and fall camp as the #1 QB under his belt. I also felt it was unlikely the team would see the same odd unusually heavy injury plague that hit both the OL and DL in 2019---which contributed greatly to making the team so weak in the trenches on BOTH sides of the ball.

Team speed is clearly improved (especially on defense). After a quick period of adjusting to game speed---the team looked pretty good. Ive said I thought we would compete for the a spot in the CCG this year---I think we appear to be on track to be a factor in the race if we continue to improve. They say most improvement in a season is usually seen between game #1 and game #2. I hope so, because we'll need to be better to have a shot at winning game #2.

Not shocked with the first half performance but talent is definitely there for Houston no question... One other observation from the game was Tulane is no push over anymore.

On the upcoming game vs BYU... If we rattle BYU's QB enough our like our chances.

Great opportunity next week to knock off BYU. As an SMU fan, hard to pull for Houston, but bet your boots I will be next week...

We did miss a FG at the end of the game
