Camp Washington, made in small batches at one iconic location (OK, not as iconic as its original store). Skyline and Gold Star are chains which dish out mass-produced chili.

Have not been there in years but they always had really deli sandwiches also.

All of the non-chain chili parlors were strong in the sandwich area.

Acropolis chili and Blue Ash chili also come to mind for dang good sammiches.

RE: Skyline Chili closing!
Unfortunately, they've only been doing take out.
For years I've been making the trip from Boca to
get a couple of cheese coneys and a three way chili.
Going to have to make a couple of trips before they close. The staff have always been really nice people.
Once they close, I'll have to get my Skyline and Graeter's at the grocery. I was a regular at the Ludlow location while I was in Cincy.

Triple decker sandwiches at Acropolis Chili. It was literally across the street for me at one point, my bedroom looking down into Nippert.

First time I ate a Deli Turkey Sandwich in NYC I woke up with food poisoning sleeping in the bathtub next to the toilet during my NYC vacation. Chinatown no fun shittin' your britches.

I know some folks think it’s funny to poke fun of Skyline to get under Bearcat fans’ skins but com’on—a bunch of people are losing their jobs and have to find some other way to feed their family.

It is definitely an acquired taste.....I don't think I have ever had anyone who tried Skyline or Gold Star for the first time say "This stuff is great". My wife and In-laws are originally from central Pennsylvania. The first time I took them to a Skyline they were like "You guys really eat this stuff?" Now, they chow down like a native on a 5 way plus 2 cheese coneys w/ mustard and onions, lots of oyster crackers, lots of hot sauce....

I won’t say it’s trash cause it’s solid when your drunk especially in the winter, but other than that Skyline is trash. Horrible for you too. I can’t believe the amount of fat in it.

Born and raised less than 5 minutes from the original Skyline chili store.

RE: Skyline Chili closing!
I lived in Southwest Ohio for a couple years..... didn’t care for Skyline when I first had it. Gave it another try and loved it. Having been out of the area now for a couple years, it’s really the only thing I miss about Ohio. Well, that and the casino.

If you are in Cincy avoid Gold Star but do go to Skyline. Of the chains it is the best.

However the four best chili parlors in greater Cincy are:
1. Price Hill Chili (the best by far)
2. Camp Washington Chili
3. Blue Ash Chili
4. Acropolis Chili

Is this that spaghetti with "chili" on top chili that is being discussed?

I never messed with that, I just stick with the coneys.

Never had Price Hill Chili, but definitely can vouch for
Camp Washington Chili.

So really, just Americanized Spaghetti, meat sauce, and cheese. I guess if some people can call it "gravy" then others can call it chili.
