RE: C-USA: Home of off the wall basketball scheduling models
I'm assuming they would play the same schools at the other location next year?

Here's to hoping North Texas plays UTSA on the road twice so I can get some games in without driving more than two hours.

I wouldn't count on that.

Another stupid scheduling decision by the bozos running this conference.

I wish USM's basketball program was good enough so that I would actually care about things like this. Maybe that'll change this year.

I envy MTSU/WKU/UAB's program.

The word "considering" gives me hope at least that they won't go through with this plan. Not really necessary.

Agree. What problem are they trying to solve? If it is travel costs, develop some kind of plan where each division plays home and home within, and has a very limited cross-division schedule. Ask the NCAA for a rules waiver, if needed. If it is Covid exposures, maybe some kind of bubble plan? Bring four or five teams to each C-USA city and play a round-robin Thursday to Sunday?

Is ODU playing basketball?

WKU struggling to fill non conference, this season is a mess. Actually loved the conference schedule for WKU announced earlier, now looks like that's ripped up...

Looks like this weirdness is happening

https://twitter.com/jonrothstein/status/...39426?s=21

Quote: Sources: Conference-USA has voted in favor of having its teams play two regular season games against the same opponent in the same location each week during the 20-21 season. Games will be on Thursdays and Saturdays.

RE: C-USA: Home of off the wall basketball scheduling models
This means the conference pretty much has to go to a 20 game conference schedule. If they stick with the 18 game conference schedule, some schools will have 10 games at home and others only 8.

But this is C-USA, so don't be surprised if they didn't think about that.

It's possible a 20 game conference schedule is likely. I HERD that we've lost all 3 games against our power opponents and that no one seemed to be rescheduling OOC games, so we may be looking for as many basketball games as possible.

If I heard correctly, the maximum # of games that a team can play before postseason this year is 27. I was also told that the Patriot League was only going to play conference games this season, and don't be surprised if other conferences do that... possibly some of the money conferences that did this for football.

Here's is how all the conferences are handling this wacky situation.

Of the 32 conferences - 21 are planning a normal format home and home schedule; 4 are using or considering the wacky 2 games/1 location plan; 2 may utilize division only schedules; 1 is planning to get conference only games in however and wherever possible to get to the NCAA minimum; 1 may not play at all and there is no information on the plans of 3 .

Conference USA - Will reportedly play an 18 game conference schedule and will play the same opponent in the same location on a Thursday and Saturday of the same week. NOTE: That is 9 pairs of games, meaning some schools will have 5 home weeks and some will only have 4. How's that for balanced and fair?

ACC - Proceeding with a normal 20 game conference schedule.

America East - Proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 18 (16 in 2019-20).

American - Proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 20 (18 in 2019-20).

Atlantic Sun - Schedule released. 16 game normal schedule.

Atlantic Ten - Proceeding with a normal 18 game schedule.

Big East - Proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 20 (18 in 2019-20).

Big Sky - Approved a plan to play 2 conference games in the same location in the same week (Thursday/Saturday). Reduced number of conference games to 16 (20 in 2019-20). Non-conference scheduling issues may lead to the reinstatement of the 4 cut conference games.

Big South - Proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 20 (18 in 2018-19).

Big Ten - Proceeding with a normal 20 game schedule.

Big Twelve - Proceeding with a normal 18 game schedule

Big West - Proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 20 (16 in 2019-20).

Colonial - Looking at playing an 18 game conference schedule in controlled environments. Looking at the possibility of playing some games at neutral sites due to travel restrictions in several northeastern states.

Horizon - Will play a 20 game conference schedule (18 in 2019-20) with teams playing 2 games at the same location each week.

Ivy League - No sports through 12/31/2020. Resistance from schools regarding playing in a bubble may lead to the Ivy League sitting out the entire season.

Metro Atlantic - Schedule released. Will play a normal round-robin 20 game conference schedule, shifting men's games to a Tuesday/Friday only model for this season.

Mid-American - proceeding with a normal schedule, increasing conference games to 20 (18 in 2019-20).

Mid-Eastern Athletic - Plans to play a 16 game conference schedule, splitting the conference into North and South Divisions. Each team will play each of the other teams in its division 4 times with no cross divisional games.

Missouri Valley - Schedule released. Will play a normal 18 game schedule.

Mountain West - Schedule released. Will play a normal 18 game schedule.

Northeast - No plan announced as of yet.

Ohio Valley - No plan announced as of yet. Will increase the number of conference games to either 20 or 22 (18 in 2019-20).

Pac 12 - Plans to proceed with a normal 20 game conference schedule.

Patriot League - No non-conference games allowed in November/December. Considering two plans. 1) playing all 18 conference games in bubble pods. 2) Splitting the conference into 2 divisions with home and home matchups within each division + 1 cross divisional matchup allowing for the conference to meet the NCAA's required minimum of 13 games.

Southeastern - Proceeding with a normal 18 game schedule.

Southern - No plan announced as of yet.

Southland - proceeding with a normal schedule, reducing conference games to 16 (20 in 2019-20).

Summit - Proceeding with a normal 16 game schedule.

Sun Belt - Schedule released. Will play a 18 game (down from 20 in 2019-20) travel partner schedule on a Thursday's/Saturday's each week. NOTE: THIS IS CONFERENCE USA'S NORMAL PRE-BONUS PLAY SCHEDULE SET-UP.

Southwestern Athletic - Proceeding with a normal 18 game schedule.

Western Athletic - Considering two options. 1.) Playing two games in the same location each week. 2.) Sending 4 to 5 teams to pods for conference play.

West Coast - Schedule released. Will play a normal 16 game conference schedule.

I wouldn't expect anything different from the clowns running this conference. They are making things unnecessarily worse by this silly scheduling.

Is ODU playing basketball?

That's the current plan. First game is supposed to be at home on November 28th against William & Mary. Coach Jones said they are still working on the non-conference schedule.

Let me guess, we will get 4 home weeks and we will play twice each at ODU, North Texas, and Marshall. 03-nutkick

how can you crown a champion if you play such uneven schedules?

Someone on our board said the travel partner would still be home-and-home, so that’d be nine home/nine road (travel partner + four DHs). Is this true?

Colonial Athletic Association doing this, too. Playing the same opponent in the same location for back-to-back games.
