Penn State / Indiana question
Penn state had ball on IU 15 yard line, 1st and 10 with 1:47 left in the game. IU had one time out left. Penn State up by 1. Why didn't Penn State take a knee and run out the clock for the win?

Instead they hand off and player runs for TD...he was told to take a knee, but why take the risk of a bad handoff or him scoring the TD, which gives IU chance to come back to tie game and go win it in OT.

You would have second down with about 1:45 left and IU with no timeouts....

What am I missing here???

Nothing. You're not missing a thing. That is in fact what they should have done as IU was more than happy to let them walk into the end zone allowing them more than enough time to march down the field score 8 pts and force OT. Bad things happen when there is poor execution. Good for IU. Similar thing almost happened on the last series of the 1st half when IU's RB Scott ran the ball when deep in their own territory with ~20 seconds left and fumbled (due to a blown missed targeting call). Should have taken a knee insted, everyone knew it. Fortunately for IU, no blood resulted as Penn State's kicker doinked the upright on a very short range kick.

Franklin is getting skewered on social media for (I thought) NOT telling his players not to score.

Doesn't the OC have a chart that shows time, downs, and when to take a knee???? I would fire him immediately.

Matt Limegrover used to be their OC I believe, but he was fired. I think they hired the OC from Minnesota.
