Dino has lost his team and losing the fan base. I’m done with him , he not the guy to turn us around. I’m afraid Syracuse football has become a place where coaches careers go to die.

Have to agree. The team showed life the second half of last season, but it has completely failed to carry it into this season. I came into this year with hope we might win six games, a pretty modest goal. Now we're looking at the potential for 1-10.

Someone posted earlier in this thread that Babers was safe for another year. However, this year has been such a disaster, I don't believe that this is true now, even if it was previously.

Assuming Cuse loses out, at what point would the school pull the plug?
- after an embarrassing beat-down by Clemson?
- after a home loss to peer school Wake Forest?
- after a home loss to peer school Boston College?
- after falling to 1-8 with a loss at Louisville on prime time tv?
- or will they wait until after the Notre Dame game?

I would've pulled the plug after losing at home to Liberty.

The recruits still believe

Only the OL recruit from Hawaii seems a tad unsure

Dino will get at least one more year.

We are playing with about 60 scholarship players and losing AA Andre Cisco and Tristan Jackson leaving early really hurt. We are running the 4th string RB. Dino's biggest hurdle is to develop QB depth and to recruit a gamechanger at WR.

So .... the answer to the question that started this thread appears to be ... "wait a couple of weeks".

I have no idea what Syracuse should, or shouldn't do.

But I think any coaching change at any school with the budget issues that COVID 19 are causing are going to be difficult to pull off.

It's been five years and four complete recruiting cycles. Why hasn't he done these things already, and what indications do you have that he's capable of doing them because there's absolutely nothing in his coaching history to suggest he can.

If Babers (1) can't recruit an elite QB, and (2) can't develop an NFL-level QB, and (3) his only REAL success was with a QB who was already on the roster when Babers arrived...

Syracuse is his third Head Coaching job. Name the recruit who made an impact at either position at any of those three schools.

BOB may have been good for Penn State in his short time there, but as someone who pulled for the Texans for a long time before finally giving up due to his shenanigans, be careful what you wish for...

Unfortunately, I agree with your points. There shouldnt be so many depth issues at this point, especially at QB and Wr. But Im thinking that if Babers is back next year, and I think he will be, the team should be much better, since they are playing so many freshmen this year.

Hopefully, all the injured players will be back with a lot of the freshmen being sophomores, that will give the team a lot of depth in key areas.
There are a couple of good dual threat freshmen QB's that have a lot of talent that Babers refuses to play. I cant see them being much worse than what we have. Since this season is already wasted he should give them a chance to see what he has. We are going to lose the games anyway, so with the new guys the only question is how many TD's do we lose by? At least they will get experience going into next season.

Of course Syracuse football will be better next year - if I were the coach they would still be better. Does that mean they should keep Babers? Sounds like an excuse to delay the inevitable.

FWIW, I'm not suggesting O`Brien is definitely the guy who should replace Babers - but it's beginning to look like someone should!

Yeah, not understanding why at this point you aren't at least seeing what the kids can do. Culpepper is an inspirational story and all, but he's had ample opportunity to showcase his abilities. His skill-set at QB is limited and probably should have stuck it out at TE. See what you have with the freshmen so you have an idea what you need to be targeting in recruiting. If they aren't looking to work out at QB it's not like you couldn't possibly use them elsewhere on the roster freeing up a recruiting slot for another area of need.

Don’t expect Babers’ job to be in jeopardy. He has four full years remaining on his contract this year, and the most conservative estimates of his buyout are that he’d be owed at least $17 million if he was fired after this season. That number would scare a well-heeled SEC athletic department, and Syracuse is decidedly not one of those.

Yeah ... a big buyout, plus strained athletic budgets due to COVID attendance restricted events, means the cash flow is seriously handicapped to do anything right now.

Babers' comes back next year, unless someone magically steps up to swallow that buyout. Don't we all wish we had those kinds of boosters just hanging out, waiting for the call.

And like others in this thread ... I wasn't advocating Bill O'Brien for the gig when I started this thread ... I was just "putting it out there" for discussion's sake. I think BOB winds up somewhere next year ... if it's college, it'll be a head coaching gig. But the NFL is more likely, as an OC or something.
