Number 1 is fine with me - I have no issue with replacing the CFP committee with a BCS formula or the MC or something similar. If computers make people feel like the deck isn't being stacked by biased humans, that's to the good.

Number 2 I am not down with. I am fine with a four-team playoff. IMO a sixteen team playoff would be too much like the NFL, and though I love the NFL too, one NFL is enough for me. I do not understand people who want to make College Football like the NFL or other pro leagues. I fell in love with the unique, idiosyncratic practices of CFB almost 50 years ago. If anything, I'd prefer to go back to the old "poll and bowl" system rather than go to 16 team playoff.

Number 3 is just silly. You can't "get rid of preseason polls" because nobody can stop the AP from publishing a poll if it wants to. That's like Freedom of Speech, or something.

I agree with everything except a four team playoff. I would like a an eight team playoff with a Non A5 team included. I know that this has been posted so many times, in nauseam, by many posters. ESPiN, who owns the playoffs, wants the four team playoff for money. The A5 wants that money controlled through themselves. The fairest system would have to include one team not included with the A5, which an eight team playoff would rectify. But we have seen what the NCAA March Madnesss and what could happen if this was possible in FBS.
The A5 would separate, and I believe in another thread that was recommended.

The fairest system would give all Conference Champs a bid in a 16 team playoff. 10 autobids+6 at large bids. Shorten regular season by 1 game and only 4 teams play a longer schedule with most teams playing less games.

Of course this isn’t going to happen because it is fair so we have to settle for an 8 team playoff.

There has to be a medium that the network and an extended playoff would work. ESPiN is one that is writing the checks. If there is another way to go 16, realistically, I don't see it, fair or not. .

Well that’s why I said the dream is a 16 Team Playoff. We push for 16 with all conference champs getting in plus 6 at large bids, but we settle for expansion to 8 with autobids for the P5+1 autobid for the G5+2 at large bids. That would be the best we could expect, but that’s why you push for more in the hopes you at least get a legitimate path opened for all teams.

It would still be biased, but it would probably be the best we could hope for, at least for now.

Point taken. 04-cheers
