Football 2020
Just let me start by saying how good it is to have sports to talk about with you jerks, especially NIU football.

As we all know, the schedule came out today. Honestly, 1 non-divisional game followed by 5 divisional games seems like as fair a way as any to decide a champ.

I really wish we could at least let season ticket holders into Huskie Stadium but the MAC is making the right call to not have fans.

Something to keep in mind this fall/winter is nobody loses a year of eligibility. Conceivably, if Bowers wanted to play this year and come back next year as a 7th (lol) year senior, he could. This rule is going to be especially beneficial to NIU this year because of the amount of freshman Hammock brought in. There's something like 37 freshman on the roster. Guys like Drucker could play in 8 games this year (MACC+Bowl) and come back next year still having 5 years to play 4. Even though Bowers is back, I fully expect both of those guys to be big parts of the offense this year.

48 freshmen actually so it's a huge class. With probably about 25 more showing up in the 2021 class next summer. Competition is going to be fierce in that combo freshman class. Dustin Fletcher and Ethan Hampton will be in the same class for example. Incoming O-linemen will be joining the 8 freshmen from the 2020 class, etc. Its exciting to think about what that combo group can turn into. There's no reason not to have great players at every position.

The best recruiters win in this environment. An opportunity for a G5 team to make a big splash.
