Joey took Marshall as a virtual lock at -7.5 on ESPN.

Seems like a gimme, no offense WKU but calling the bookie.

As much as I hate this Western offense....

there are no locks in college football. Well other than 2016 Western @Marshall and that Marshall team had already packed it in and Western's offense was just that good. You could say the same for 2014 and Marshall's offense was a lock. I thought it was a lock but its one of those games you will never forget. We drove from NYC, through a blizzard half way up the mountains between Maryland and W Virginia. So glad I did...but seriously thought I was going to die on that mountain.

Marshall very well could win easily but under Doc, Marshall, usually plays a lot better at home than on the road. They also play a lot 'safer' on the road.

The only sure lock....

I will be dry in my seat if I can make it the 50 yards from the parking garage without getting wet. One other...if I want to actually sit in my seat I will have to tell someone to move their ass. The whole row could be empty and 9 out of 10 times someone is going to be in our seats.

I'm not really sold on the Marshall offense. I might have a different opinion tomorrow might but this Appy St defense is not the same as the last couple years. Yeah, Marshall put up 200 yards rushing on Appy but UNCC put up 146 with a 4.9 avg. and right now UNCC might be the worse offensive team in CUSA. That's saying a lot considering how bad Western's offense has looked.

I expect Western to dink and dank with short passes and QB runs on rollouts on offense and doing that shortens the game. Add in the rain and I see this as a low scoring game. I personally dont think Helton knows a high powered offense from his ass hole. I also dont think he can spot talent on offense. But the one thing he did show last year...

the ability to change a offense to the strengths of his QB. Short, quick, passes gave Storey the confidence he needed. But how much of last year was Storey's will to makes plays and will to win? I think we find that out tomorrow night.

Either the Western offense starts to show some life or Western made another bad hire. Its very clear judging talent is not at the top of Helton's list. I think Marshall covers the spread but its Marshall's first road game. There's a 90% chance it will be played in the rain. Ball control and limiting turnovers will be keys for Western keeping it close with a chance to win...

55 yard walk off fg would be nice or a two point conversion on a last second td. I would prefer either after Doc tried to milk the clock and it failed giving Western the last second chance. Then we can get to "Doc must be fired" ...

its going to happen, it does every year (but 2014) so might as well be this week after losing to a "lock" 04-cheers

Good feedback brother, hope you stay dry tonight. I'll be watching from home trying to put four small kids to bed. It never goes well....

As far as the game, we can absolutely lay an egg tonight, and your analysis could prove right.

What kind of running game do you have? Is it a north-south power or east-west zone style? We've done well locking down lateral running games, zone blocking and the like. usually have some trouble with power running games.

Our pass defense is elite, I think your quarterback is going to have to play similar to the Middle game, and use his legs.

As far as the Marshall offense, it really comes down to our o line. That has been our bread and butter. I expect a low scoring game as well. We always play not to lose rather than playing to win on the road.

We're a much more aggressive team at home, for whatever reason.

So, who do we think the sloppy, muggy weather benefits?

I honestly think it helps Marshall. I think if our offensive line does what I think it can do tonight, it's going to be a long day for Western.

The one thing that gives me pause is our freshman quarterback on the road. I have no idea how Grant Wells will respond.

I think it plays right into Marshall’s type of football. Marshall wins this by double digits.

I dunno. WKU is always a tough out no matter how good or bad they are. I hope you’re right.

I mean, let's be honest. There's not really an easy win remaining on Marshall's schedule. Yes we should be competitive and favored in many of them, but I could see us losing any of the six remaining games.

We have had teams like this go on the road and lay eggs before.

Maybe this season will be different, but I've always thought playing on the road at Western or at Middle was never an easy gimmie.

1997 @ Miami Lost 45-21
1998 @ Bowling Green Lost 34-13
2001 @ Toledo Lost 41-36
2002 @ Akron Lost 34-20 (This is the Leftwich game though)
2003 @ Troy Lost 33-24
2004 @ Akron Lost 31-28
2005 @ UCF Lost 23-13 (winless team for a year)

(Insert gap for the Snyder era where no one favored us for anything)

2013 @ Ohio Lost 34-31... I was there
@ MTSU Lost 51-49
2014 WKU Lost 67-66
2015 @ MTSU 27-24 (When our boneheaded kicker had a meltdown)

(Chalk up 2016 to Chase Litton’s poison in the locker room)

2017 FIU Lost 41-30 I was at this game.
2018 MTSU Lost 34-24
2019 @ MTSU Lost 24-13
@ Charlotte Lost 24-13

We have a healthy history of losing games we have no business losing. I fully expect WKU to bring it.

I see some Marshall fans have went from lock talk to getting nervous....

you shouldnt because this Western offense is just awful. The running game is like a bunch of old folks using walkers with cataracts. Cant see or hit a hole and even if they get lucky to find it...

forgot to take their little blue pill. So they fall, 'flat' by the time they get in it.

Good luck and hope all players stay healthy...hitting the shower then a hour drive and going to stop check in on my brother before getting to the game by kickoff

Never once did I say this game was a lock. In fact, quite the opposite. With that said, I feel this is the most complete Marshall team we have fielded in a long time. So we will see.

This is a Doc coached Marshall team. I can easily see Western winning. If Western gets on a roll early, we are in big trouble.

I think there was a glimmer of hope, Jakairi Moses might be the one back who has the gift. Still have a hard time believing Walker gained 1200 yards last fall.

I also see some WKU fans going from "We lost to Liberty, the Greatest team in the FBS coached by "Hugh pees", who can coach while sleeping against any G5" to "Our team is a bunch of old folk on blue pills" LOL YG leave it to you to spin the crap like you want to fit your narrative. That said Herd by 20.

Eh, Guns is about as straight of a shooter as there is on the board. He’s like the Howard Stern of the board minus the humor.. lol. There is no middle ground.. You either like him or can’t stand him. I have been on both sides.

I couldn’t stand him six years ago, but as I read what he has posted over the years, I get him. And in reality, he is not often wrong.
