C'mon Western fans. I want to hear some WKU thoughts on the game.

Immediately hated y'all after the 2014 upset in Huntington. Is the hate reciprocated?

How do you see this game played out?

Marshall should win but WKU could make it close if Marshall doesn't come ready to play.

If Marshall doesn’t win this game by three TDs the App win was smoke and mirrors. wkcc is not good. One of the worst topper teams I’ve seen.

Some of you are gonna have to help me out here. I watched as much of the MTSU-WKU game as I could tolerate and I just don't see WKU's offense doing much against Marshall's D this year. I also don't see this as a 'trap' game... we haven't played in a couple weeks and I actually expect Marshall to be more on point because of it. I expect wet conditions would tilt the scales slightly a bit in WKU's favor, but Marshall has one of the best o-lines in the nation with the conference POY Knox and Evans in the backfield if it becomes a more physical game.

If u guys commit about five turnovers inside your five yard line I think we might win. Our defense is capable but a bit slow. Hope your guy's are wearing ankle weights. Having said this and it being a rivalry game (yes we do hate but respect you) you never know. I'll be there.

I fully expect this to be a dogfight and very close game. We need to start fast. Although being off for three weeks will make that tough to do.

RE: ****W6: Marshall @ WKU, 6:30CT, Sat., Stadium****
I fully expect WKU to show up in this game just like they have every game since 2014 that we've played them. I don't mean this to be smack, but I don't think WKU is as good this year as they have been in the past and it may be the worst team they've had since coming to CUSA.

That being said. As good as we have looked in our first two outings I don't want to get to big headed and start pounding my chest like we're winning with ease. Not one single Herd fan going into Charlotte last season thought we'd lose that game and they darn sure didn't think we'd show up like the JV squad from a bad single-A high school team.

I do believe we win this game somewhere around 30-17, but there are too many factors in this game to feel completely comfortable.

1. It's kind of a rivalry game.
2. The conditions aren't supposed to be very good.
3. This is not only our first road game of the season, but the first road game in Grant Well's career.
4. This is a Doc Holliday coached team and we hardly ever get exactly what we expect.

Even with Piggy T being CUSA offensive POW, I have little confidence in him. Our receiving corp has been decimated by defections. Piggy hasn’t utilized our stud tight end. Our running game has been bad as well. It’s just a slow group. For me, the most disappointing part of our offense has been the o line. Most WKU fans expected more from the offense. I don’t feel like WKU can score enough points to win.

There's a 90% chance of rain for Saturday. That's going to most likely keep the points down. I hate rain games because they are slow and sloppy. It may come down to the run games and turnovers.

This covid season has been hard to get excited for. At first I just wanted everyone to play no matter what, but the watered down format we are seeing in sports generally makes it difficult to get fired up for. Lack of sharpness across the country due to limitations in practice and hurried time frame. Lots of players opting out or transferring at a higher rate. No in game stadium atmosphere that also makes the broadcasts somewhat boring. Fully expecting Marshall to beat us 2 scores because we've lost too many receivers to be competitive. Ive got tickets for the game this weekend but I doubt I go.

Given the history of this game I would think there would be a lot more back and forth going. Are WKU fans already that apathetic?

Not sure what it is, almost zero conversation even on WKU’s main message boards so far this football season...I will say this game is generating more conversation than the MTSU game last week did..I guess rona combined with how bad we have looked the last month has generated apathy among WKU fans...A lot of discussion now on hoops..

I will say this team has been very disappointing...Lack of wrs and lack of a true pocket passer has made this offense look like the early Kawun Jakes days...At least hoping defense is starting to come around now, zero excuse for them, we have like 20 seniors and experience everywhere on that side of the ball..

All 3 of them have posted in this thread, what more do you want out of all WKU fans?

That's how we felt last season. Green was terrible, the WRs finished with the worst production since moving back to FBS football and probably further back than that. The defense was left holding the bag far too often.

I don’t know for sure, but it seems like you haven’t had a TE worth his salt receiving-wise since Higbee.

The tell-tale barometer of the overall attitude of the WKU message board fan base is the silence of Guns. It must be pretty bad in BG.

That is the best road kit that we have and it’s not even close.

In what we deem "Big Games", I think we should do Stormtroops away and Peapods at home. I feel as if we should have had the Peapods on for the Appy game.

Yeah, I thought it strange too that we went with the black pants, but oh well... I remember in the ‘97 mac ccg that we warmed up with white pants and came back out for the game in green ones. If I’m not mistaken it was Moss who led the charge on that.
