SETTING THE STAGE
• Navy, the defending Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy champion, and Air Force will meet on the gridiron for the 53rd time when they square off on national television Saturday at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs in the first leg in the battle for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm (ET) / 4:00 pm (MT). Saturday’s game is presented by USAA.
• Only Cadets from the Air Force Academy will be allowed to attend the game.
• Air Force leads the all-time series, 30-22, and is 18-7 all-time against the Mids at home. Navy has lost three-consecutive games at Falcon Stadium, last winning in 2012, 28-21 in overtime.
• Air Force has won eight-straight games dating back to last year which is tied with Notre Dame for the nation’s longest active winning streak in the country.
• A win over Air Force on Saturday would mark the 100th-career victory by Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo and would make him just the 24th active coach with 100 career wins and just the sixth active coach to achieve it at one school.
• Niumatalolo’s seven wins against Air Force make him the winningest Navy coach in the history of the Navy-Air Force series.
• The Mids are coming off a miracle 28-24 win at Tulane on Sept. 19. The Mids rallied from 24-point halftime deficit (24-0) to win the game in the greatest comeback in school history. This will be Air Force’s first game of the season, which has allowed the Falcons almost six weeks to prepare for the Mids.

COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF'S TROPHY
• The Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy is presented annually to the winner of the football competition among the three major service academies — Army West Point, Navy and Air Force — and is named in honor of the President of the United States.
Navy has won the trophy 11 of the last 17 years and has won 27 of the last 35 Service Academy games against Air Force and Army West Point.
• Navy has won the trophy a total of 15 times in school history: 1973, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1981, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
• When there is no clear-cut winner, the trophy remains with the winner of the previous year’s competition. The last time that happened was 1993.
• The three-sided trophy stands two-and-a-half-feet tall and is engraved with the academy seals. Reproductions of the three mascots — the Army West Point Mule, the Navy Goat and the Air Force Falcon — are ensconced on the respective sides of this bauble. The trophy is sponsored by the West Point Association of Graduates, the Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Air Force Association of Graduates.
• The year in which the trophy is won is engraved on a plate gracing the respective academy’s side of the trophy.

The view from the Colorado Springs Gazette:

https://gazette.com/sports/exclusive-air...9ca8d.html
https://gazette.com/sports/turnbacks-wil...123cd.html

It's kind of hard to miss their beat writer's frustration with how USAFA handles things:
"The team’s roster and depth chart were released Monday, shortly after The Gazette published a copy it had obtained."
"The Midshipmen, on the other hand, provided players and coaches each day during the preseason and have offered Zoom-based sessions with nine players, eight assistants and three opportunities with coach Ken Niumatalolo in the leadup to the game against the Falcons."

We don't play well with revolving QB's. Pull Tyger and give the freshmen a shot. His scrambling might be the difference maker just like Malcom Perry. Worst case you are building QB of the future.

Newberry's D looks very conservative this year, what happen to all the aggressiveness?

Some miscues, but bottom line is AF played a better half of football.

Agree at not revolving qbs. Therefore, don't bring in the plebe. He didn't show anything at Tulane to make that call.

BYU, Tulane first half, and now AF have figured out to run zone blocking runs up the middle against Newberry's defense. The offensive back is cutting back against the way we are slanting. The majority of times Navy is out of place not getting outmanned.
