Philly
Philadelphia is not a place I would wish to live, for several reasons. If you like crime and corruption (not to mention cold winters), it is the place to be. The problem is that it is also the place to be if you like basketball. Tons of history. Big Five.

Have you ever actually been to Philly, or are you just parroting some political agenda that someone wants you to believe? Personally, I’ve always enjoyed my visits to Philly! Seen basketball games at the Palestra, Temple, and St. Joseph, and an Army Navy football game. So, you are right about sports there anyway!

RE: Philly
I might have been to the Philly area during the time I traveled for the toy company here in Booneville; that has been a long time back. Our parent company was in the Pittsburgh area, so I know I went there. That is really pretty country, being in the mountainous part of Pennsylvania as it is.

Do they normally play the Army/Navy games in Philly or was that a one-time thing?

I have no clue as to where Army/Navy might be held in 2020, if it is played at all. But that game has been held every year in Philly for a long time!

3 of the last 9 have actually been in Maryland (Baltimore and Landover).

I know that years ago the game was played at Yankee Stadium sometimes. Then I thought it shifted to Philly annually for a long time. Have the other 6 out of 9 lately been in Philly?

It was last played at Yankee Stadium in 1931. Fedex Field in 2011. M&T Bank Stadium in 2014 and 2016. The Linc otherwise for most other years since it opened.

RE: Philly
I understand the play on the spelling of the city, but one of the great sports mysteries to me is why they named a men's sports team after a female animal. Sort of like calling a women's team the Sacramento Steers.

What you are referring to is spelled filly or fillies. Not Philly or Phillies.

Of course it is! That’s why is isn’t a female horse! That’s the point!

It's not really much of a mystery if you have internet access.

And, of course, there is that great shot of Rocky and the kids jumping up and down at the top of that flight of stairs.

Basically a creation of the media. The guy who had to typeset "Philadelphias" just got fed up. Interesting.
