I was looking forward to watching this one. Hopefully they can get the game in down the roads.

Not happy about the postponement, due to the date that the game will be moved to, but I will assume that the amount of players who would be unavailable is significant enough to warrant it.

Y'all stay safe out there in Western NC. I will actually be in the area in a few weeks. Glad I didn't plan my trip around this game!

Saw it reported on a Cajun site that it was 9 coaches and 30 players.

The local TV market I live in serves his area as well. The TV station (WFMY) said the young man had no underlying health problems. He was playing high school basketball last year. Sometimes things slip through the cracks with physicals but at face value he seemed healthy.

RE: Louisiana at App State postponed
No official anouncement yet, but I have been told the Sun Belt has reached an agreement to move the Conference title game back to December 19th in light of the combination of the App news and Troy/USA's postponement.

Teams have been told to not schedule OOC games for December 5th and 12th and to leave them open as makeup games. If for some reason the season ends and a team doesn't need to use those dates, they will be free to schedule an OOC opponent that week to avoid a situation where one team might have a 3 week break before playing the league title game.

Current theory based on the only data available to the league (the AState outbreak) is that Covid will likely cost a team two weeks if a mass spreading event occurs within a program. The hope is that the two extra open dates are all the league needs.

It is my understanding the young man contracted the virus away from Boone. He returned to school and became ill. Dr's at Baptist Hospital in WS (one of the finest research hospitals around) said by all accounts he was in exceptional health and his death was a one in ten million occurrence. Makes you think there is maybe some sort of genetic abnormally at work. Very tragic situation that happened to an outstanding young man.

I was told that he had an immune deficiency of some sort. This came from someone who was a friend of his. IF true this could explain why an otherwise healthy 19 year old would have a one in ten million reaction to the virus. This is why I said that stating he was perfectly healthy is not completely true if he was immunocompromised.

Maybe this isn't the case, but I have no idea why a close friend of his would make this up.

It was also weird that it appeared he quarantined and came back to App, then had the complications after that. Very sad, as it usually is with any death, but especially young people.

But really, if you were an admin at App, how could you not postpone this game? Last week we had DL playing OL, DBs playing WR. We are not two-deep at the moment, so we aren't even allowed to play.

League rules aside, a student just died, the campus overall is seeing a massive spike in cases, people want in-person classes canceled, etc.

We can't even practice. How are we supposed to play a football game this weekend?

And lets be real. If this happened to ULLLLLLLL a week before arguably the biggest conference game of the season, they would move the game too.

Dude you went to one of the Cajuns' message boards and started the same crap. Look, our fans are disappointed and, yes, I'm sure there are a couple that think App is ducking us because they won't be at full strength.

Reality is, the vast majority of Cajun fans get what's going on up there. We sympathize with your plight. If this means we have to go to Boone in December for a make up, so be it.

Get healthy as fast as you can. The league needs you to play your schedule.

Regarding the student at App that died, saw a report on MSNBC last night that said the virus attacked his brain instead of his respiratory system...

I'll wait for a credible news source to report on it.

I still contend that it’s tougher to play in the early September heat of Louisiana and South GA then the cold of December. You can only take so many articles of clothing off before you’re in trouble but you can always bundle up and turn on a space heater

We haven't enjoyed many game day/nights like that over the past few years.
