"It's somewhat confidential"

Just between us and him. Everyone take care not to spread it around.

Right now, some conference commissioners are wonder if someone is going to call to inform them they are leaving for the WAC; now that the cat is out of the bag.

What do people think about Abilene Christian. Are they pretty content? They always were uber successful in some sports in D2. Maybe now that they have their feet under them in D1 they might be too stifled in a league like the Southland.

They're already D1 FCS. It'd be great if they wanted to move up to FBS

West Texas A&M seems like the obvious candidate. But it will be interesting if it turns out to be a school out of left field; like Asuza Pacific or Central Washington or Central Oklahoma... or maybe a D1 school that wants to jump ship from the Southland, Big Sky, or Summit? But West Texas A&M seems like the safest choice.

If anyone else but West Texas A&M I will be disappointed. Great school, great tradition in both football and basketball. Also gives me a glimmer of hope the WAC is trying to be a FBS football conference down the road adding Texas schools. the state of Texas is the king of football.

It won't be Central b/c they are being rumored to be looking at a forced merge with Eastern Washington. EWU publicly said their President is taking a sabbatical but the story behind the scenes is she is being bought out and that their basketball coaches have taken anywhere from 20k to 50k salary hits. So a Central-Eastern merge looks likely b/c both are struggling financially.

This is true, and Tarleton fans have been saying it for a while now. If it is WT that takes the leap after Tarleton, expect 3-4 football playing LSC schools to follow suit. Then, we just might see ACU and UIW come on board from the SLC to truly get the ol' band back together and button up this conference for good.

Are we really looking to WACHoopsDigest for any kind of insight here? I usually hear or read about happenings in the conference on this message board about a week before they get posted by that account.

I do not believe the rumors. Central Washington have already sucessfully raised funds to renovate their football stadium to add more seats. I do not think Washington State would allow it to happen.

I have family involved in this and a merger is very possible there are a few other options but the merger and this one about Eastern getting gobbled up by WSU and Central gets gobbled up by UW are the two gaining traction in Washington higher ed.

I think a school president saying a definitive statement like the Tarleton St president did, trumps a WACHoopsDigest Twitter account. There was no maybe or possibly in his statement.

If the Tarleton State President acknowledged that he and the other WAC presidents voted on a school's admittance, it sound definitive that the WAC will add another member. I guess we just need to wait for an official announcement. I can only assume it will be another football playing school to partner with Tarleton State and Dixie State. Now that the WAC is starting to add football playing schools, I can only assume other dominoes will drop over the next few years.

If true then it’s time to say aloha to Chicago State.

I’m guessing it’s a FCS school making the jump.
