I think that you need to have 25 rep points prior to being able to give some rep.

Between the NIL ruling , the NCAA President all but surrendering any type of administrative control, and now the reports about OU and UT fleeing the Big 12 for the SEC, the future of college sports conference alignments is a mystery.

I believe you can start giving rep points when your post count reaches 500.

Oh. And Utah Polytechnic State is **** so they don’t register a WAC win in their first 5 seasons of play, and the WAC replaces them with Houston Baptist University led by AD Tom Burnett.

Jeez, the SLC was way better than this wacko league.

03-yawn So, what’s your point?
Oh, was my point not clear enough? My point is that this conference blows and has Division 2 schools dragging it down, so FBS won’t be happening for at least 10 years. That’s my point.

So, in your opinion Tarleton would have had trouble competing in football in the Southland? UIW? Never lost to them. Houston Baptist? what a joke, why don't you go spend time at that cracker jack box football stadium and tell me how great it is. Btw, you might want to pack while you are there so you don't get carjacked. Nice part of Houston. Nicholls? No football dressing room for visitors. Friend coached there and got out as fast as he could. NW State with run down facilities that can't compete with D2 Midwestern St. I could go on railing on all the shortcomings of a conference that lacks money or visibility or vision but what's the use. There is your point. So, before you are worried about the speck in my eye you might want to remove the log that is wedged in yours.

Just wondering; does the WAC have any rules about where the student section is located for basketball. In the grand old days at Lamar the student section was behind the visiting team bench, but when they returned to the SLC I believe there was a conference rule prohibiting that.

Somewhat on topic to the WAC as current Southland schools and targets are on the league's radar...

Updates on Southland Conference membership from the league's media days...

I’m thinking P4 vice P5 after a defection and maybe an exodus to the Pac (or you could throw in USC going independent and the exodus going the other direction)… and there’s the potential that this derails playoff expansion.

Which might be a consideration. Not that this scenario is necessarily likely, but it’s been easier to bet on power conferences consolidating their advantages than it has otherwise.

Though the P5 seriously becoming (if not already there) the P2+3 is a possible dynamic unto itself.

P4 with 4 18 team super conferences is one possible scenario.

Or 16.

BTW, the Boise State board has exploded with this. Many posters are finding sources who believe the move (or “a” move) is fait accompli, and the ripple effects will be large. One source mentioned that the Big 12 without Texas and Oklahoma would lose more than half its TV contract value.

Anyway, not sure I see how conferences would go over 16. Just as important, the Pac-12 would probably struggle to even get to 16 in a manner that would viably increase TV revenue.

lol you say all this but don’t realize the Southland passed up Tarleton for some of those schools the last time they expanded. Imagine how appealing you guys are to get passed up for HBU and UIW.

I think Tarleton would struggle to win the Southland now, and never would have if they’d joined earlier. I mean, you guys lost to the worst McNeese team in years, a McNeese team that proceeded to lose to Incarnate Word, SLU and Lamar. Embarrassing!

I don't think there are any rules, or if they are they are very recent. At our Fieldhouse there isn't assigned seating for general admission, but students traditionally fill up the side behind the benches first, while fogies, faculty, and families usually face the benches. Both the pep band (loud and intentionally so) and the "organized" student attendees, i.e. anyone dressed or equipped for the occasion, usually sit directly behind the visiting bench.

There is always an announcement about disrespect to the other team not being tolerated, given in the same style and volume as the disclaimers at the end of a car commercial.

PS: I believe our all time attendance record was for a Lamar game when we were still UTPA. I hope we can repeat that sort of welcome.

I agree Tarleton beat the crap out of McNeese only to go into prevent mode and let them come back and win. Poor coaching on the part of Whitten, definitely snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. That L is squarely on him. I guess he couldn’t stand the thought of scoring again so we lost.

I knew you weren’t playing a full deck of cards from some of your earlier posts but now I know your elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top. Tarleton would have a winning record even in transition over that weak watered down tea competition. Lay off the crack pipe Is distorting your already skewed thinking.

You can’t talk like this after losing to this year’s McNeese team. A team that went 2-4 otherwise. A team ineligible to even make the playoffs. A team that lost to ******* Lamar. You just can’t.

I’ll be generous and say you’d beat HBU, especially without Zappe and Ratslaff. But the HBU team that nearly beat Texas Tech and beat Eastern Kentucky is putting a beatdown on a weak division two squad that seems to think they’re an important piece in an also-ran FCS conference.

No chance Tarleton beats Nicholls, UIW, Southeastern Louisiana.

Wishful thinking on your part. Tarleton unlike those broke schools will fund the 63 scholarships. We are just getting started. Only a fool would cast their lot with those have nots.

As stated before, your University Admin is light years ahead of a dunderhead such as yourself stuck in neutral. Thus, welcome to the WAC. Like it or not. Swallow that bitter horse pill and stomach it because other than flapping your jaws there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Next

So, before you are worried about the speck in my eye you might want to remove the log that is wedged in yours.
lol you say all this but don’t realize the Southland passed up Tarleton for some of those schools the last time they expanded.

Next
I was all for leaving the Southland if it meant a step up to the ASUN. This is a step backwards in every sense but basketball. You can dump on those Louisiana schools all you want, but they field solid athletic programs at the FCS level. Oh, and they’d blow out Tarleton.

Sorry, before this year I didn’t know your school existed. I don’t want to play sports against lower echelon A&M system schools. It is a bitter pill to swallow. Where is Stevenville again?

Imagine being a fan of an FCS school 99% of the country has never heard of and looking down your nose at an FCS school 99.1% of the country has never heard of.
