Any FSU fan confirm?

Your Fox Sports Go app would have to be linked to an account that includes Fox Sports Sun/Florida to have game access.

It was but I got the "Blacked Message of Horror", even for a reply on ESPN

I might be switching to Hulu Saturday Morning.

If I were in a Sinclair RSN territory, I would definitely be doing so. Fubo TV and Hulu both have free trials available if you want to take a test drive.

Yeah I'll do a trial but keep YoutubeTV active. I like having CBS Sports for the G5 games...Hulu doesn't offer.

However FOX RSNs >CBS Sports if I have to switch.

I'll see if I can get the Duke game on Fox Sports Go first.

Mark,

Hulu shows a lot of G5 games. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with Hulu's college fb variety. Its much better this year than last year imo.

Duke will be on the RSNs for the third time 10/17/20. It must not be a problem for their alumni or they would be hollering by now.

Yeah, but six people hollering isn't going to make much noise.

Honestly, if you are interested in having HBO, AT&T TV Now is the best deal for sports overall. It has local RSNs in more markets than any other internet based service, and it has all of the same national sports channels as YouTube TV except NFL Network. All 3 have SECN, ACCN and BTN. None have P12 Network.

As between Hulu + Live and Youtube TV, it is going to vary by individual and from market to market. Hulu is cheaper, has all of the networks with national college conference rights, has all of conference networks except P12 and has the local RSNs in more markets, meaning wider availability of the ACC RSN package. It is therefore an excellent choice for college fans.
However, I'm in New England and Hulu does not have NESN, which carries the ACC RSN package here.

Yes.... But with Hulu you stiil get all the "pro" games.... What you miss out on is the "Out of market games", however YTTV is beat by AT&T TV Now with the MLB network and Sunday Ticket option....

Crap, I just switched to Hulu from Youtube TV.

Hulu is ending RSN coverage starting tomorrow.

what they sent me

Updates On Your Regional Sports Network(s)

Hi Mark,

Starting on October 23, 2020 Hulu will no longer have the rights to distribute certain Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) that are currently included with your Hulu + Live TV plan.

While we were unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair Broadcast Group to continue offering channels like your Fox Sports RSN, YES Network, and Marquee Network, the good news is that you will continue to have access to a wide variety of sports from other popular channels including ESPN, TNT, and TBS, as well as FS1 and FS2.

Check out the Hulu Help Center for the full list of RSNs impacted by this news more information about what’s included in your Live TV plan or how to make changes to your subscription.

Thanks for watching,

The Hulu Team

Quote:Hulu + Live TV has become the latest virtual MVPD to drop Sinclair’s Fox regional sports networks.

The company said that starting October 23, 2020, it will no longer have the rights to distribute several RSNs that were previously included in its live TV plans. The impacted networks include:

FS Arizona
FS Detroit
FS Florida
FS Midwest (including FS Indiana and FS Kansas City)
FS North (including FS Wisconsin)
FS Ohio
FS Prime Ticket
FS San Diego
FS South (including FS Tennessee and FS Carolinas)
FS Southeast
FS Southwest (including FS Oklahoma and FS New Orleans)
FS Sun
FS West
Marquee Sports Network
SportsTime Ohio
YES Network
RELATED: YouTube TV ditches Sinclair’s Fox Sports networks as seasons end

Though Hulu is dropping the Fox RSNs, it will still carry several sports-related networks including ESPN, TBS, TNT, FS1, FS2, Fox, CBS, NBC and ABC.

The programming change at Hulu + Live TV follows YouTube TV’s announcement that it was dropping Fox regional sports networks after earlier this year negotiating an extension for the channels.

As The Streamable pointed out, the livestreaming options for the Fox RSNs are running thin. AT&T TV Now is the only vMVPD that currently carries the networks and that’s only through its $80/month plan.

Sounds like Sinclair grossly overestimated the value of those RSNs to cable companies.

Sinclair has a well established reputation for being difficult to negotiate with. They held out on making their local channels available to virtual multichannel carriers for a while to get concessions to carry some of their low profile cable networks.

One would think that AT&T TV Now would be the big winner in all of this. While the $80/mo price for its Max package is quite a bit higher than Hulu + Live or YouTube TV, it includes HBO Max and Cinemax. Adding the $15/mo price of HBO Max alone to YouTube TV brings the prices even. However, AT&T's earnings report this morning indicated that AT&T TV Now's subscribers had dropped to 683,000 from 1,145,000 a year ago. Hulu + Live has over 3 million and YouTube TV has over 2 million.

Hulu Live will do just fine because it can be bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+

I'm not sure what the draw is for YouTube TV at this point.

RE: YouTube TV loses regional Fox sports channels
This article takes a deep dive on the woes of the Sinclair RSNs:
https://www.nexttv.com/blogs/sinclair-rs...everything

Some highlights:
Quote:"A lot of reasons have been given for the need for a restructuring [of the RSNs' $8 billion in debt]. The pandemic, which has decimated sports teams and networks as seasons were shortened or canceled; the pressure to issue rebates to distributors for undelivered games; and the decline in overall linear programming viewership have all contributed to RSN declines. And while those reasons are certainly valid, one very important factor in the Sinclair RSN’s current dilemma is missing: timing."

"The problem: while sports was and is still considered one of the few things that TV viewers watch live, the cost of the channels was getting out of hand. At the same time, distributors were pushing back against sports channel affiliate fee increases, claiming that not enough subscribers watched the channels to justify the cost. Cord cutting made the idea of carrying expensive programming even less attractive."

"According to a report in the Wall Street Journal Wednesday, creditors of the unit that holds the RSNs -- Diamond Sports Group -- are preparing to possibly restructure about $8 billion in debt. Sinclair, which set up Diamond Sports to bear most of the debt load of the Fox Sports acquisition -- the broadcaster is only on the hook for about $170 million of that obligation -- had earlier tried to restructure the debt through an exchange offer. Bondholders, who would have had to take a substantial haircut in that exchange, took a pass."

"[The decline in subscribers to traditional pay TV] has some pundits wondering if the deterioration of the traditional model where linear networks pay fees to sports networks based on their total number of subscribers, is on the way out.

But there is a danger in switching to a direct-to-consumer model, mainly that sports networks will have to rely on revenue from customers that want to watch them, not everyone with a pay TV subscription. That could be a big difference -- currently there are about 80 million TV homes, and some analysts estimate that only about 30% of those customers watch sports. That could mean that a D2C regional sports offering would have to charge about three times more per month just to make as much money as it was receiving under the old model. As a result, many in the industry are hoping for some kind of hybrid model."

What would a hybrid look like? Possibly having the RSNs split games between one channel that is included in a package paid for by all subscribers to a multichannel service and one that requires an extra charge.

Any chance the ACC was smart enough to include a minimum distribution clause in the Raycom/Fox/Sinclair sub-licensing contract?

...any chance at all?

Sinclair's rights are a sublicense from ESPN not a license from the ACC. My guess is that they pay ESPN the same amount regardless of whether they are able to clear the games or their networks with anyone, so I doubt there would be any minimum clearance requirements.

Their current financial difficulties may potentially make the package available to be bought out or sold to a third party. In theory the cost of a buyout would be the value of any lost profits that Sinclair makes from the package. Given subscriber losses, the value may even be zero or negative to Sinclair, but it could still have market value to someone else.

I continue to believe that ESPN ultimately has interest in the package to move to ESPN+. An OTA syndicator (Raycom Subsequent MovieFilm?) could also be a prospective purchaser of the package, as could another cable network (CBS Sport Network, NBC Sports Network), or another streaming service looking to expand its sports offerings (Amazon Prime, Peacock, CBS All Access). It's possible that ESPN has a right of first refusal. They're known for that sort of thing.
