YouTube TV loses regional Fox sports channels
https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/youtu...39524.html

This will impact for ACC fans in New York, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky and Indiana where Sinclair owned RSNs carry the ACC RSN package. YouTube TV already has no agreement with MASN or AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh either, which carry the ACC RSN package in Virginia and Pennsylvania outside the Philadelphia market. The only ACC territory in which YouTube TV will carry the ACC RSN package is in New England, where it is carried by NESN.

Fortunately, the less expensive ($55/mo) Hulu + Live TV carries the Sinclair owned RSNs in all markets, as well as ACCN. Also, AT&T TV Now's Max package ($80/mo) carries the ACC RSN package in every ACC market and ACCN. Although pricy at $80, this package also includes HBO Max and Cinemax, as well as a 500 hour DVR (as compared to 50 hours on Hulu).

Quote:Starting on October 1st, YouTube TV will no longer have access to Fox regional sports channels owned by Sinclair. If you’ll recall, the Google-owned streaming TV service first announced that it would no longer carry Fox Regional Sports Networks back in February, because it was “unable to reach an agreement” with the broadcaster. The two companies were able to arrange an extension that would give subscribers continued access to the channels while hashing out the terms of the deal. Clearly, they weren’t able to come to an agreement yet again even after months of negotiations.

I was choosing between YouTube TV and Hulu Live TV when my wife suggested "just see what Spectrum will do to keep us". I wasn't optimistic, but I called. I told them I had the bundle but never used the landline phone or the cable box - we always watch TV through the Roku. Long story short, after I returned the unused cable box and phone equipment, Spectrum knocked $25 off my old price - $65 less than what it was going to be once the bundle discount ran out. Needless to say, I did NOT change...

I have been thru that with Spectrum. Its only a one year reduction. After one year you will see your price suddenly increase by a lot. I only use Spectrum for internet because they are the best in my area, and home phone service, which we dont use. But the internet is cheaper with phone service than without. So I keep the phone service and use Hulu for tv watching via ROKU. I hate Spectrum, btw. Even though my middle son works for them in Florida.

One nice thing about these virtual cable services like Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV, is that they have no contract and require no equipment. You cancel the service and you're done (usually after finishing out your month). You can switch on very short notice to another based on channel selection, price, or whatever.

It would be even nicer if ESPN still controlled these rights and they were available for the ACCN where it could be making the conference money.

But Chad Swofford needed a job so the financial interests of the conference got sold out in order to save a failing media venture for that and some asinine sense of nostalgia for a company that had been bought out decades ago. #goacc

For the record the only two streaming options that carry ACCN & RSNs along with ABC/ESPN are Hulu Live TV & AT&T TV NOW

Hulu + Live TV does not carry, NESN, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh or MASN. Only AT&T TV Now's Max package has the ACC RSN package available in all ACC markets. Again, it is pricy on its face at $80/mo but does include HBO Max and Cinemax.

ACCN has a full inventory, with its games coming from those formerly shown on the Raycom package, ESPNU and ACCNX. Having access to the RSN package would improve the quality but not the quantity of the ACCN inventory. Games not used by ACCN would being shown on ESPNU and ACCNX.

The good news is that after 2026-27 ACCN & ESPN will have RSN games... Thus there will be more cord cutting options... What will be interesting will be if Sinclair goes after the Pac12 & or MWC and rebrands the RSN after they purchase the AT&T RSN to stadium...

So I tried to watch the FSU game in Florida. It was Blacked out on ESPN3 and ESPN+ didn't offer it.

I didn't check but maybe if I watched from my phone with a VPN set to another city might have worked.

This really sucks

It wouldn't be on ESPN3 or ESPN+ since it was on FOX Sports Sun in Florida. You would have needed to have access to FOX Sports Sun to watch it or authenticate on Fox Sports Go.

Since it was televised by Regional Sports Network your ability to watch the game via stream will depend on where you are. If you are an 'in market team', you can find a live stream via FoxSportsGO. If you are an 'out of market team', you can find a live stream via WatchESPN.

Your Fox Sports Go app would have to be linked to an account that includes Fox Sports Sun/Florida to have game access.

It was but I got the "Blacked Message of Horror", even for a reply on ESPN

I might be switching to Hulu Saturday Morning.

If I were in a Sinclair RSN territory, I would definitely be doing so. Fubo TV and Hulu both have free trials available if you want to take a test drive.
