Is anything less than a blowout a major disappointment here?

Correct. Spread is 22 for the Cats and Notre Dame won 52-0.. If we want to call ourselves a top 15 program we better win by 40+. I don't think the defense will have much trouble.... the other side of the ball is what everyone will be focusing on.

Just watch the highlights. Ian Book is an excellent passer. USF long snapper sent two way over the punters head.

This is my thought as well. In fact, I HATE betting on the Bearcats either way because it adds additional pressure that I don't need ---- but I LOVE this spread.

Have to think the offense addresses the turnovers and our defense contains USF. I love the Bearcats -22.

UC 32 - USF 21. I have no faith in this offense to blow out anyone by 22 points.

I don't think this defense is giving up 21 points to USF, unless we are so far ahead we have the backups in.

RE: Pregame Thread: USF vs. Cincy
USF has bigger issues at QB than we do. Their QBs went 12/29 for 125 yards against Notre Dame. They only managed 102 yards in the air against the Citadel. They have been playing QB by committee and if you read the USF boards it is indicative the first two guys have no arm strength and accuracy. The yards per completion through two games are about 4.3 yards a catch.

I am looking at this to being a low scoring affair, 28-10.

I think so too. UC just doesn't seem to get into those high scoring runs. With a lead and this defense the coaching staff plays it pretty conservatively: control the ball on the ground and grind that clock down. Not always very exciting for the fans, but it's been effective.

Remember when freakin' USF had us down 51-3 at halftime?

We're just a liiiiiiitle better now.

Bolded, if some hadn't figured out that Tubs needed to go by then, that was the tipping point for me. Flat out embarrassing.

As I always like to say, the quality of our problems has improved immeasurably. Let the "QB controversy" continue as an undefeated season rolls on Saturday.

If Ridder looks like he did in the 1st 20+ minutes of the game last week, I give him a very short leash.

Tired of hearing about not being able to make a change due to messing up team chemistry. You know what is really bad for team chemistry? When the defense has to play perfectly to make up for the QB not being able to hit wide open receivers and when those receivers keep doing their jobs but don't get the ball.

USF has played @Nip 8 times. The average score has been UC 29.75 USF 21.5.
Of those 8 games USF has won 2, both seasons UC was 4-8 and USF went 8-5 and 11-2.
Going with UC 31 USF 13.

Yep.

When I was in high school, my team had two great QBs. One was a walk-on at Indiana (broke his knee and never played). The other, his younger brother, went to Minnesota and set all of their all-time passing records. One of them (or maybe both of them, I forget) had a habit of running backwards if they were about to get sacked. In trying to avoid the sack, they'd sometimes lose 10-15 more yards. I remember the defensive players on the bench would sometimes get furious when that would happen in a close game.

Doesn't matter how good the QB is, dumb QB plays hurt team chemistry.

I’m no expert, and not a hater, but with Dez at QB The whole game there’s no way we win by 40+ unless the defense scores or gets us several turnovers with good field position.

Can't disagree. This is not a high scoring offense but one that has been content to methodically grind out yards and burn clock. If the running game doesn't get it in gear tomorrow, this could be a closer game than any of us want to see.

With every post seemingly directed at the QB position glad you initiated the issues with the run game. We are not getting any push on the interior of the line- not even against Austin Peay. Our guys are significantly bigger up front than these last two teams. What’s going to happen when they play someone with their own size and strength?

Perhaps the line are better pass blockers than run blockers. Which would not match up with our QB.

Teams can sellout to stop the run when the QB cannot stretch the field.

For those interested, a USF blogger did a nice film study of some of the things our offense and defense does. Be sure to watch the videos attached to see the breakdowns.
