Basketball season is just around the corner
For pure curiosity sake does anyone know how we’re going to approach basketball this year? Will it be similar to volleyball where we play a uniquely scheduled conference only slate ?

As of last week there were no plans to alter the basketball season, however the league can change it if need be. That’s why no schedules have been released

the B1G, PAC-12 and a few other conferences will cancel. Then, the rest of us will play 50-75% of our schedule.

They'll take a couple of months off, see the lay of the land and what they need to maximize their outcome. Suddenly the phoenix will rise and come crawling back and get the red carpet treatment as if nothing happened.

One note: all of the leagues normal rules for OOC scheduling do not apply for this year only, so expect to see an abnormally large number of non D1 games to help with budgets

With season starting later a lot of preseason tournaments will be cancelled, so expect more money games as well.

GS are excited about the new coach and players.
A little hype is building around the team.

With any luck stAte won't play at all due to "mono".

On paper, we have a major rebuilding year ahead of us, but that's on paper. Coach Burg is talking a big game and has high expectations. A lot of the transfers are very impressive, and many of them got waivers to play immediately. I'm very excited to see what they can do. This will be a completely different team than the one that took the court just 6 months ago, from the AD all the way down to the water boy.

THe original plan was to play a lot of non D-1's but a lot of those schools aren't playing at all.

Season starts Nov 25.

So far no change to the conference schedule. But we'll see.

Expectations in Atlanta are 20+ wins every year and this year isnt different. Rob Lanier's squad returns all starters with more experience and better conditioning. Newly added transfers from UGA, Memphis, and Cinci should also see playing times off bench and compete for playing minutes. The last recruiting class indeed had some freaky athletes but too much depth for them to really do anything this year.

South is at home for 7 of the first 9 SBC games and on the road for 7 of the last 9 SBC games. It seems a couple others I spot checked have something similar going on. That should be interesting.
