RE: Silver Lining 2020-21 Football
so the UNC game payout was what....$500,000?

less travel expenses of, i don't know, $50,000?

so that's $450,000 we miss out on.

does that change the narrative if we have a budget shortfall of "only" $5 million instead of Bourne's $5.5 million in his Dialogue?

and any other FBS games we "could" have scheduled were not going to be paydays.

so continuing to bring that single game up as if it would have solved all the covid financial problems is a little shortsighted.

Embrace it.

Another silver lining is once the season is over, it probably won't be too long before the next season starts. Although I would suspect that it may start a little later than normal just to give players a little more rest (maybe?).

Another possibility is that football and basketball may be playing at the same time.. more so than usual. Which could mean weekend double headers! If I am able to go up and both teams are playing, I will absolutely be checking out both football and MBB!

RE: Silver Lining 2020-21 Football
Silver Lining from Saturday -

With Trey Lance's performance Saturday - the Washington Football time has a better shot at him. He's not near an NFL passer at this point, but I think that could come, and his mobility & head are fantastic.

Obviously I want Trevor Lawrence, but if the season ended today we would be picking 6th, behind the #5 Cowboys. 03-lmfao

So impressed with Trevor on so many levels. He seems to have it all.

Really depends on who is picking ahead of Washington. Lance has a good chance to be the #2 QB off the board. If Washington is #5, there's a chance both guys may be gone before then.
However, if Washington gets either guy, they would be getting one hell of a QB for the future.

His only performance this year will be 15-30, 149 yards versus Central Arkansas. He did not help his draft stock Saturday.

Even before Saturday, just about every mock/evaluation had Justin Fields #2, and Lance #3.

If that were his last game ever with NDSU... definitely not a good final impression. Also, it was NDSU's first and only game this fall. Have to consider that as well. I don't think it's ultimately going to hurt his stock.
I'm pretty certain he's playing this spring which will give him a chance to bump up his stock. At this point, he just needs to stay healthy and he's going to be one of the top QBs off the board. I'm not a Washington fan, but hope you guys get him.

Per Virginia Pilot 10/2/20

"the ODU athletic department has even managed to avoid layoffs and furloughs, thanks largely to the generosity of its donors and sponsors. The department recently received a $5 million gift from a benefactor Selig declined to name.

Instead of asking for refunds, about a third of the football team’s season-ticket holders elected to turn their purchases over to the school as donations to be put toward fiscal year 2021.

BTW - student fees at JMU that subsidize athletics ($5,050) are 42% higher per student than at ODU.

When are JMU tuition paying families going to start asking for a refunds?

Full cost of VA universities 2020 including tuition, fees and room & board.

W&M $35,636
UVA $27,864
Christ Newport $26,214
VCU $24,918
Longwood $24,366
George Mason $23,922
Mary Washington $23,384
Virginia Tech $22,554
JMU $22,528
ODU $21,334
Radford $20,616
UVA-Wise $20,557

I guess they should demand refunds right after the 8 other schools that cost more demand them.

The day you read Jeff Bourne announced the JMU athletic department recently received a $5 million gift from Dukeman, a benefactor. 03-lmfao

I have heard pundits say that Trevor Lawrence is the most perfect quarterback, mechanically, to ever play the game. High praise! And, he can scoot when needed to.

It would be a very Snyder like thing to draft Trey, but I hope they don't. I still dream of seeing the WFT be competitive again someday, and Trey looks like a lesser RG III to me who can't pass as well.

If we could have contained his running/scrambles a bit, we'd have another natty. That won't take an NFL team deep in the playoffs without a credible passing game.

Heck, I don't even want a full refund, just the difference in cost between in person and the cost of online colleges such as Liberty, Phoenix, Grand Canyon. Nothing against traditional schools but those online schools know that business, have the experience and they do it well, and schools like JMU simply don't. It's not an emotional thing, just a fact, it's the business of "am I getting the product I paid for?"

The quality of education my youngest has gotten up until this point this year from JMU is an absolute disgrace, not even close to getting what he (I) paid for. If he wasn't a senior, he would have taken a gap year. Right now he's just marking time waiting on the piece of paper at a cost of $22,528.00

It will be interesting to see how this changes the business of higher education in the next 10 years. Will we see more online education. Do we see less student athletes receiving degrees? (One and done) Does the "gap" close between traditional and online degrees regarding job placement? I won't be around but Imagine reading a history book in the year 2070.

Campbell can easily line up FBS games because they're winless all time vs FBS opponents.

Yeah, if some scouts only look at that UCA game, Trey Lance actually lost draft stock after playing saturday than if he had not played at all. He had a subpar game by his past standards.

A slow starting offensive performance by NDSU's very high standards.

Also for Radnunz. Maybe 1/2 the mock drafts I browsed had him in the 1st round. Below recent one has Lance going 8th and Radunz 9th.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news...er-weapon/

Imagine that- last yr’s NDSU team among their upperclassmen could end up having:
-1st round QB
-1st roubd OT
-3rd round OLB (Jabril Cox now starting at OLB for LSU) projected by Draftscout for 3rd round.
-7th round DE (this past draft).
