I will take being number 11, but my honest opinion is we are not #11 with Ridder as QB. The most important position on the field is a FCS level talent. And the coaching staff seems hell bent on riding this season out with him. Could anyone seeing a Ridder lef offense being able.to score on some of these teams ahead of us or even behind us?

Without fans, is it still considered the bounce house?

Yes. A bounce house is always a bounce house whether it has kids (or adults) in it at that point in time.

Actually I’ve thought the same thing. I think we are a top 10 team at every position except QB. With Ridder I have doubts we can beat many of the teams in the Top 20 currently and to do so would probably take an exceptional effort from the defense, running game, and Special Teams.

I've been a give Bryant a real look guy for a long time but calling Ridder an FCS talent is a stretch. His first year he was 5/11 qualified AAC starters in QBR, 8/12 last year, and 5/8 this year. He's a middle of the pack AAC guy; probably an upper tier guy in the MAC or Sun Belt. The reason I want Bryant to get a look is to truly be a great team capable of beating good P5s we'll need to have a QB who's a difference maker; we've got nearly 30 games evidence that the current guy isn't that.

But he's hitting middle of the pack QB rating numbers with a top tier running game, which would make it fair to say if he had a middle of the pack running game would he be a bottom tier QB?

Where does Prater stand in this discussion? Are the coaches dead set on redshirting him? Lindauer was listed as 2nd team this past week.

I think Ridder has the talent and ability, but his confidence level is low now and it is leading to his bad decisions.

He has the arm strength to hit the long pass but has trouble deciding when to throw, and that is leading to under or over throwing. He is a great runner but now seems to be having trouble deciding when or when not to run.

I feel like if Prater was going to play this year, it would have been late against Austin Peay. I don't feel the staff thinks he's ready to take hits from FBS competition with his slight build. I'm expecting quite a body transformation once he has a full offseason of strength training. The pandemic did him no favors in that regard.

Prater played against Austin Peay and ran the ball twice for 4 yards. He looked small, even against AP. He won't be in the discussion at all this year, and likely won't be next year either.

Prater is currently 4th on the depth chart behind Michael Lindnauer. Prater is skinny AF. 6’5 and weighs a buck fifty. He will be Coach Brady Collins pet project the next couple seasons. As for Lindnauer, he does not get noticed by the local fan base because he is not from around here, but he was a great athlete in high school too- football, basketball and baseball.

He played and can play 3 more times. his 6-5 180 needs to be built to 210 at least. Ridder is 6-3 and 215

Bolded, my friend who follows IN high school football closely, speaks very highly of Lindauer and feels UC may have gotten a steal in recruiting him out of Evansville.

With that said, the QB room is a bit of a mystery to me. Will Bryant be willing to hold a clipboard yet again again next season when Ridder is a senior, for the right to start just a single season as a senior the following year?

Then you back up Lindauer and Prater for another year too? I would agree these latter two will need time to develop physically and prepare for FBS competition. But we also see a fair number of QB's starting as freshmen around the FBS too. I'm not suggesting either are "ready now" but both may be called into service if injuries occur. And we're all too familiar with QB injuries at UC the past decade or so.

He is an absolute stud on the diamond too...Coach Googs has been in the staff's ear since day one trying to let him play baseball as well.

Ha, I didn't even realize he played against Austin Peay. I was checked out by that point.

Bryant, or Lindauer will likely transfer eventually. I think that will be the new normal for Quarterbacks. When the writing is on the wall that they won't get a shot to play they will transfer. Fickell will key in on his QB every cycle and there just is not enough playing time to go around for QB's. I assume all schools now operate the same way. Ohio State had Burrow and Martel transfer when they saw they had no shot at playing time. The same will happen here, and if we whiff on a QB recruit, we will look into a transfer to fill the gap until the next guy is ready.

Remember this is a free year of eligibility so our current starter can play 2 more seasons even though he's currently a junior. If he decides to do that even Prater would be a transfer candidate.

Surely someone can beat out Ridder between Bryant, Lindauer, Prater, etc...
