That has the largest enrollment of any school in the state, student engagement we would die for, a fantastic football stadium, a new hoops arena in the works and a better football team that was on the cusp of top 25 (and arguably better basketball teams).
I feel ya. I wish we had even close to the commitment to athletics that they do.

The problem is they don't depend on student fees and alumni donations for athletic funding and doesn't need to play by State's rules when it comes to how to allocate and spend their money. Oh look they won another game threads are getting a touch too many. Who da **** gives a chit about Luhbutty other than a couple of posters on our board and who can blame them its seasonal offseason for us so more message board fodder i guess. If they have money to throw at athletics and see success good for them but i wouldn't obsess over that crap.

haha snark aside I am conflicted on who I want to win. On one hand I want to see VT drop another to a in state G5. Would help with our recruiting in this area even more. On the other hand I don't want to share the title of another in state G5 that beat VT. Makes our win look less impressive. Either way, good luck. I hope you both lose. =]

There were clues last season, but the Chanticleer's meteoric rise this season has been nothing short of amazing.
The Liberty game was a game we could have and should have won.
It was a turning point for both programs and the pivotal beginning of he end for the Wilder era.

Think about THIS: There are as many recent Big South schools in the polls (Liberty, Costco Carolina) as there are Pac-12 (Oregon, USC) and permanent ACC (Clemson, Miami) schools.
Good for Liberty for taking advantage of this season and beating their opponents. After all, you only have control of what you do on the field. But let’s also note that Liberty's opponents have a combined record of 2-17 so far.

Hate to admit it, but they would probably beat us this year also if we were to play them.
I believe we get a shot at them in 21, so let's get better and see what happens.
I'd prefer we keep them off the schedule. Not out of fear, but why associate with them? Nothing to gain.
I don't know. At this point, they have a better football rep than we do. We at least need to establish ourselves as the third best program in the state again. Cant do that until we start kicking their butt on the regular.

They were a mediocre FCS program a few years ago. Yeah, they beat the Stove Top out of us two seasons ago and they have a pretty record this year (VT, N.C. State and, God help us, Coastal Carolina will tell us a lot more), but I think it's shortsighted to already crown them as the third-best program in the state. There's more to program quality writ large than what have you done for me lately. Even if they'd probably beat us again this season.

They would have the best in-state record maybe, but Virginia Tech has three wins (Louisville, N.C. State, Boston College) far better than any of Liberty's wins. A win Saturday definitely legitimizes them but that alone I don't think makes them the best team in the state. They might be the second-best team in CUSA, if that's any consolation, which it's not.

I will play the role of a delusional jmu troll.
JMU would have offered this recruit and gotten the commit but JMU decided to look out for this student athlete and not offer knowing JMU could and would over recruit the position on our way to defeating every broken assed fcs program within a day bus trip
