LOL, would have never expected to hear that one.

I do think Houston will eventually fix things if he stays, but its turning out to be a pretty big rebuild there.

It will never happen. Too far behind. No one likes a loser.

Dang! Coastal clobbered Ape State today, 34-23. Ranked #15, Coastal likely to gain a point or two. The Chants have obviously mastered the art of situation monitoring.

Somebody from the JMU staff needs to ring up Liberty, Coastal, Marshall and App State and remind them that they have nothiing to play for...

No mention that Lancaster Bible College yanked the rug on JMU. Is EMU's seminary intramural team free that date?

Coastal played well and App doesn’t look as good as they have in recent years. Game was neck and neck til the end and App lead most of the game. A pick 6 made it look like a comfortable Coastal victory.

I didn’t realize Abilene Christian was able to schedule a game with UVA until I just saw the ticker scoreboard. Oof, that hurts a little more.
It is impossible to justify JMU forfeiting the Fall. It is no wonder that Alger is not returning communication from Alumni.

JMU tried to schedule UVA and quite a few other regional FBS teams but had no takers

Liberty 14-7 over NC State midway through the 3rd quarter.

Coastal and App State on espn was fun to watch. Back and forth as mentioned.

These programs are getting a lot of coverage off this 2020 season.

Great for Liberty.

Great game. NC State wins 15-14. They blocked Liberty’s game winning FG.

I don't buy it. What exactly is JMU's definition of tried, a lot of ifs & buts?

An extra phone was put in JB's office with an extra loud ring tone.

The article that reported all those teams found all of the communications via a FOIA request so you or dukeman should file one too and see exactly what was done yourselves. Then you can report your findings to the rest of us!

RE: Other games (like we have one), 9/26
One of the biggest reasons this football season is so upside down is team chemistry, or lack thereof, and how that has really affected some perennial powerhouses.

Case in point: This team chemistry (and/or lack thereof) phenomenon was amplified yesterday in the Wisconsin/Northwestern game.
Wisconsin is a perennial powerhouse, Northwestern a perennial doormat. Don't get me wrong, Northwestern is darned good this year, but they beat #10 Wisconsin by two scores.

Granted, Wisconsin was likely over-ranked. They were 2-0 going into the game, but they haven't really played anyone, beating Illinois and Michigan, but who hasn't?

The big difference, in my opinion, was the team chemistry advantage that Northwestern had over Wisconsin, playing two more games than the Badgers so far this season. Wisconsin was forced to cancel two games (due to Covid, I suppose).

Northwestern was #19 going into the game. Will they now swap rankings with Wisconsin? A few pundits are seeing Northwestern as a potential CFP team. Is that possible? Sure. If they win out, and they should, and Ohio State slips up somewhere along the way in their three remaining games, it could very well happen.

This is a crazy football season, for sure, but nowhere is it crazier than in the Big Ten.

I mean, I guess if you call winning 10, 7, 9 & 10 games 4 of the last 5 years and finishing first in the big ten west in 2018 being a doormat, then sure, northwestern fits the bill.

If anyone would like, I sent a FOIA request to JMU and got the emails regarding our scheduling attempts for a potential fall season. Send me a PM with your email and I'll forward it to you.

Your statement fails to account for 2 things.
1- JMU already had a contracted game with FBS UNC
2- JMU stopped trying on August 7th four weeks before the season began. Of course you’ve noticed how many games have been rescheduled and opponents swapped due to COVID in the last 3 1/2 months. 70+ games have been cancelled/posptponed creating all kinds of opportunity to turn a “no” into a “yes”.

Those programs that were playing scooped up the scheduling openings while JMU sat on the sidelines and forfeited the Fall.

It sounds like you are suggesting that JMU should have gone ahead with, at best, one game this fall and then offered itself up to any and all teams that had a game cancelled. Am I understanding that correctly?

Point taken, but why didn't you mention last year when Northwestern was 1-8 in-conference and in last place. "Perennial" was certainly the wrong word, so you are right. I have just always considered Northwestern one of the weaker teams in the Big Ten. My point was that they are killing it this year and may very well go undefeated, likely meeting Ohio State for the Big Ten championship. If they beat the Buckeyes, could they go to the CFP?

I remember the trumpet section learning "Itsy Bitsy Spider" for that game. Then we were unsure if we would have a chance to play it. Then we had the perfect opportunity to play it.

Forfeited implies they would have been playing for something, yet it would have merely been a senseless exhibition game. Please keep on reminding us what we missed out on 05-deadhorse
