We have simply not monitored the situation long enough. We need another decade or two of monitoring before making the jump.

What are the odds that Bridgewater will be playing Clemson before we finally don a pair of big boy britches?

I laughed at that. The Liberty at VA Tech game in 2 weeks will be big, especially if Liberty beats Southern Miss on Saturday as expected and is undefeated and in the Top 25 or just about there.

If Liberty can do this, there is no doubt that we can do it too. Will be interesting to see if they build off this for the next few years and if they get into the Sun Belt.

They just beat ACC Syracuse easily.

The poll that I saw today had them ranked about 30.

I want JMU to go FBS as much as anyone, but Liberty really sold its soul when it hired Hugh Freeze. Clearly, he knows football. But he brings some serious off field baggage and I am not sure even a top 25 ranking is worth that.

I personally thought the person they hired as AD was far worse. He helped cover up some terrible things at Baylor...but hey, top 25 votes and exposure!!!

I forgot liberty hired the former AD from Baylor who covered up for Art Briles. These are two pretty icky hires. Liberty is clearly on a win at all costs approach. I want big time sports and exposure for JMU but not at this heavy price.

Seems there might be a little more to that story.

Not sure if anyone saw the Ecu Tulsa game last night. I watched it and there were a couple of calls at the end that could have gone the other way and allowed Ecu to hold on for the upset. They are getting closer - my guess is they turn some type of corner next year and it’s probably enough to keep Houston there.

I watched. Felt really bad for ECU. The PI may/ may not have been legit. Thought both the fumble ( not called ) and the catch ( with the point of the football touching the ground) both had a strong likelihood of being reversed. Any 1 of those 3 calls on Tulsa's last drive go ECU's way and they walk away with a win.

And yes, that was a beatdown of consequence by Coastal on fake GSU.

I'm still in disbelief they let one of the best defensive coordinators in CFB go and believe this has set the program back even further than it needed to be.

Ecu has some talented offensive players and the Qb generally played well but he also made a few bone head plays. Tulsa did not play well and Ecu should have won. I think if Tulsa plays better the game probably isn’t close- for example their Qb missed several wide open receivers for sure touchdowns.

Decent showing by ECU, but they lost and their program is still a train wreck.

Last night Cincinnati beat ECU like a drum 55-17. Mike Houston gets in Luke Fickell's face after the game because a walk-on RB for the Bearcats broke off a 75 yard TD with about 10 seconds on the clock.

I think that exchange was over the fake punt, Fickell said he didn't call for that play

Fake punt and the last score were classless. I’ll be rooting for Cincy’s opponents the rest of the way.

Oh come on. Let's pretend like houston didn't run up the score against opponents many many times.

They could have scored on the last play- a recovered fumble that the Pirates coughed up. We’re at the stage in the Houston /Ecu tenure where they are blaming officials and focused on teams running up scores. They should focus on trying to win football games- not sure if there is another win for the Pirates left on the schedule. They are actually fortunate the Marshall game was postponed - would have been another big loss.

Yep and the divide between JMU and those programs and Cincinnati and Ecu is about the same. Houston should have taken the Charlotte job if he had made up his mind that he needed to leave JMU- less money but more realistic that he would have some success there.

CGD quote "What I've learned in the last 24 hours is that I will never ever, ever bet on on the East Carolina Pirates because their coach is the softest coach I've ever seen in my entire life,"

LOL, would have never expected to hear that one.

https://247sports.com/Article/Kirk-Herbs...ssion=true

I do think Houston will eventually fix things if he stays, but its turning out to be a pretty big rebuild there.

The only thing worse than sceduling these teams is watching JMU trying to not score during thegames. Even a #5 sam houston team in the playoffs. Did JMU take a knee inside the 10 yard line in that one?

That was the Rhode Island game 84-7.

The JMU running back, think it was Trai Sharp, was running clean to the goal line and took a knee inside the 10. The Dukes then took several other knees and I think turned the ball over to RI. MIght have the sequence of events off as it has been a bit.

Yeah, the smart money in Greenville is trending towards "How long do we have to suffer with Houston?"

The answer is "three years."

Many want to accelerate the payout and start over.
