The Bison can play this fall and this spring? I was wondering if they were eligible for the spring FCS playoffs if they played in the fall?

He went
Passing 15-30, 149 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT.
Rushing 15 carries, 143 yds, 2 TDs.

He’s more of a rusher than a passer. Someone taking him 1st rd after 2 seasons of I-AA ball (if he even plays the Spring) against inferior competition, is really taking a gamble.

I believe a team can play 11 total games Fall and Spring and be eligible for the playoffs.

In the SEC mist have the HC exception for masks. Watching some of Jawja/Auburn, on the sideline all non players wearing them but Kirby Smart with a mask around his chin & Gus Malzahn with it below his nose.

I don't think his play merits a top 5-10 pick, but a lot of the pundits have had him there. If the buzz has legs with teams, he would be better sitting out. Playing is like saying "hit me" on a 20 in blackjack.

True dat, those that have him going so high in the 1st really are rolling the dice. I know the duel threat QBs are in style but I just don’t see the passing game out of him yet to warrant such a high pick. Dinking and dunking and having your receivers catch and run for a lot of yards is a far cry from dropping a dime or threading the needle way down field.

The funny thing about these idiots with the chin guards on is when they then bring the play sheet up to cover their mouths from the lip readers out there.

While I agree, Carson Wentz was part of the same system/style at NDSU and was the #2 draft pick overall. That history may help Treys market value. If he plays like crap in the spring though it won’t.

That's funny! And, I agree. Lance's stock began to tank yesterday. He is only hurting his future if he plays spring ball.

We will clobber the smelly Bisons!

Wentz played for the same school, but Lance is far more run 1st than Wentz was, running 192 times so far which is only 1 game into his sophomore year while Wentz only ran 216 times in his career, showed a better arm and a great understanding of the game and Xs and Os.

Wentz was a 5th yr senior though, not a redshirt Soph, with 2 seasons starting (he did miss. 1/2 his senior season). Lance is passing the ball for an avg of 170+ yds a game vs I-AA comp playing behind the best OL at the level (they had 3 AA on their OL last yr. One is with the Packers, and one is a projected 1st rounder). How does that compare to someone from P5 who’s chucking it for 300-400 yds a game?

BTW, NDSU’s other likely/possible 1st round draft pick played his last collegiate game yesterday (1st rounder in several mock drafts).

Just curious didn’t people say that Lamar Jackson was a run first qb too?

I think Lance has the size and skills to warrant the high first round prospect status. Especially in a league where most of the best QBs are big and mobile.

If I was the team with the #1 pick I’d consider trading down getting some picks and taking him later.

Mikey and Kirkpatrick are not very popular right now.

But,wait, I thought he was the UNC head coach in waiting.

Looks like Ecu was probably even worse than Houston thought. I think his big miscalculation was that after time they could compete with the top of the conference. That was a long time ago- there is a huge chasm between the Ucfs Cincy Memphis and Houston’s and Ecu. Tulsa and Smu have shown an ability to close it but I think Ecu is even worse than UConn.

I know they weren’t on the same level but Klieman just inked an extension at Kansas State- just another example of how he played chess to Houston’s checkers when it came to Moving up. P5 rebuild > P6 rebuild.

I hope some day and I can make the miscalculation and go from a $515,113 a year base job, to a $1,472 a year base job. You never now when the next opportunity will come around.

That said I'm surprised he's not got things improving yet.

I hear what you’re saying and difficult to pass up but the dalliance with Charlotte before that to me is a little telling- fraction of that salary range. Young man leading a program who was playing at a very high level. He would have definitely had a next opportunity and it would have been better than Ecu. Sometimes patience works out better and nets more $ long term. If Houston gets fired for failing at Ecu I doubt he gets another FBS job- FCS sure but likely for lower than JMU who pays at the top of the scale and then his next chance if he gets one at FBS will be pushed further out.
