O/T but there are less fans at the MSU/UofM game than a small h.s.

In a regular year, MAC teams would have three Out of Conference games worth of film to analyze heading into the start of the conference season. Not so this year. These first two games will be very telling about the individual coaching squads' ability to make in-game adjustments to what they see happening on the field. By the third game of this shortened season, there should be enough opponent film to be able to discern tendencies and plan for them.

True we have some new coaches.

I'll be curious to see how CC does calling plays. He has done this in the past but I want to see if he takes what the Defense gives us or gives it all gas.

Go Eagles!

RE: MAC football back for the fall!
How do you think you guys will be this year? Don't you guys have a new starting QB? It seems Shaq Vann was w/ you forever so new starting RB?

If it's a disaster, do you think Creighton will be back? I think he's done wonders for you guys but when do you think it'd be time to move on? Or do you think because it's a strange season it won't matter?

I have you guys finishing above Northern Illinois & Ball St.

Of course I'm biased, but I think we are being very underrated this year. I could see a 4-2 season.

We have a lot of talent returning on offense (four o-linemen, a ton of WRs and TEs). We did lose Vann but have a couple of highly touted (for MAC standards) guys so that will be interesting to see if they can live up to that billing. QB is also the other question, Mike Glass is gone and Preston Hutchinson takes over. Not to bring up a bad memory for you, but he is the kid that filled in for Glass last year when Glass was hurt for the WMU game.

Defensively we a few seniors, have some young talent on the d-line that hopefully takes a step forward. The secondary should be a strength. We are think at LB.

In terms of Creighton, we could go 0-6 and he'd be back. Considering where we were for about 30 years, he's now rattled off three bowl appearances in the past four years (and a 5-7 year that could have easily been a 7 or 8 win season the year we missed a bowl) along with three straight wins against big ten schools. At some point he'll need to take the next step, but I think he's earned some leeway

Bronc, let's be honest. I don't see how a MAC school would fire a coach before his contract expires in today's environment. University Presidents are going money begging to state capitols and I seriously they will receive sympathetic ears if they are buying out a football coach's contract. Your basketball coach selection is an economic case in point.

I would also question the validity of measuring performance during this abbreviated "season" if that is what one would call it. We are starting play this year AFTER we played TEN games last year. The weather will indeed favor those with strong rushing attacks, the offensive strategy of 15 years ago would probably rule in the MAC in 2020. I would trade a nice entire group of wide receivers for backs like Bellamy and Franklin in a second this year. This is going to be Bo vs. Woody stuff.

Thanks for the question Bronc. I agree with the others that this could be a sleeper team as we are really starting to see better recruits with the success of the bowl games, etc. I have them going 4-2, possibly 3-3 as well.
I was looking at our roster/depth charts and started thinking about the 2021 season with the guys that will be Juniors and Seniors. I am way ahead of myself but that I think will be our best roster have fielded in a LONG time.
Creighton will stay as long as he wants to be there. He's done a great job turning the program around and the last game at Ford Field drew 34k fans which was awesome. He's changed culture and everyone seems to love him.

I agree that Coach Creighton will be here for as long as he wants to be here. I have no expectations for this years team except its a tune up for 2021. So I am going to sit back and just enjoy the experience.

Bronc I think there is something unique with regards to MAC fans. We tend to root for one another, I remember cheering hard for WMU in their New Years bowl game vs. Wisconsin, as that is what we do.

We may have an inferiority complex but we still play entertaining football. People seemed shocked when I tell them Kareem Hunt, Kenny Golladay, Corey Davis, Maxx Crosby, etc... played at Rynearson Stadium in very recent years. For that matter Josh Allen visited with Wyoming also.

In a recent Facebook conversation a K-zoo resident was bemoaning the high cost of attending U-M games. A former Ann Arbor News reporter stated that there was a "value alternative and it is called the MAC". I heartily agreed and the K-zoo guy stated that he truly enjoyed the few games he had attended at Waldo. Best kept secret in sports, to be sure.

The Toledo game is at 7:00 PM (which we already knew) on CBS Sports Network.
